| Hi Thankfully I am a Focus driver with no probs in 5 years and 2 excellent new cars in that time Had a P reg 1.9 diesel which I enjoyed (after a Fiat Brava), a new T reg 1.3 Lxi... each for about 18 months. The lxi had typical water leaks and sensor problems. Bought my daughter who passed her test recently a t reg 1.3L with no power steering -on ebay. When I went to pick up the car at an arranged meet it was a Skoda dealer where I had the previous cars serviced! Turned out to have a knackered gearbox so got my money back-eventually. Still couldn't resist it...just bought a private Felicia Magic v reg from a 'kindly' old lady with 28,000 miles on the clock for my daughter. Soon found it had a faulty thermostat and corroded brake pipes and wheel cylinders (and a number of small things)...hoping the central locking will last and the alternator and the lambardor sensor and the rest! Still a good car for a new driver...plenty of room and great visability. 0-60 in 12.7 secs...so not bad. Noisey but survives well on the motorway...better than most brand new 1.2's. Take the rear seat out and you have a van. Pity there is no tinted glass and when it's summer..well ![]() Is it 'fel i see a' or fel ish e a'? I have registered just incase the problems start. ![]() |

| welcome. I've always pronounced it 'fell e cee a' myself. But the skoda insist on 'ar' instead of 'a' in pronouncing fabia and octavia.

| Thats a coicidence I was asked my thoughts on a v reg magic a couple of weeks ago that had done a similar milage suposed to be mint 1 owner and very similar mileage - that one was going for about £2k - Hope your daughter enjoys her new car its an excellent car to start motoring in. The Czechs IIRC pronounce it similar to 'fel i see John |

| Thanks for your replies. Have only driven the Focus 1.6 zetec and Lxi...both enjoyable to drive and perfectly balanced steering...but I would quite happily swap for a 'superb' Octavia! I can understand why the Focus 1.6 is such a bril second hand buy though, for a small family...very reliable. That's all I need. A dealer (when the new front felicia came out) used to call them Feel...eesh..e..a. It was either his scouse accent or an attempt to prove that Skoda was now rather 'up market' Sadly today the same dealer 'wouldn't even take a felicia in as a trade-in and leave it on the forecourt...how things change in 6 years! (Trust a dealer ) Have driven both the Fabia old 1.4 and the 1.2's. The base 1.4 I had as a courtesy car wasn't much better than the felicia. The 1.2 base model was great and fun to drive! Haven't driven an Octavia, though. The felicia is enjoyable to drive and the only problem I have had was driving in the snow/ice as it is difficult to keep the rear end from sliding away...could be my driving! Skoda doesn't win awards for nothing and even the felicia was the Fiat Panda of the late 90's...what car budget car of the year...so I have little time for the detractors Thanks for your comments John. The 'magic' was described as immaculate'...but was rather good condition for the year though, with a bad paintwork repair on the wheel arch and curbed alloys. Paid £1300 last month and probably paid £150 too much for a private sale. But at low milage, central locking, alarm, etc...it is definately a good first car and I am happy to drive it when my daughter isn't! Felicia not from Kendal. |
