Question G`day. Another new Octavia VRS out there.

I picked up my Octavia Vrs (silver) a couple of weeks ago - just in time for the good weather.

Housebound today I have been reading threads on this excellent site. trying to avoid daft questions.

But - could do with some advice.

rightly or wrongly had the car Supagarded ( half price deal swung it).
I would like to add polish to protect through winter, add shine and enhance the silver paintwork.

dealer recommended Autoglym polish then coat of Aglym gloss finish.
no problem I have some in the garage but i would like to try something different.

On the Meguiars site it suggests gold class liquid wax.-- Any views on this ?

Also is there anything by Swissol suitable to top Supagard ?

Thanks appreciate any help from your own experience.

Welcome,

I'm afraid I don't spend too much time cleaning/polishing my car so can't offer any useful advice

I didn't go for the Supaguard when it was offered but I would have thought that anything you've paid £100 plus for should get you through winter. That's what it's for.

Any of the Meguiars products are top notch. The gold class wax is excellent and so is the shampoo. Since I've had my RS I've gone from Autoglym to Mer to Meguiars. Each better than the last. Also I would recommend one of those mitt things from either Halfords or the Meguiars site.

I'm going to preempt you asking about wheels. Try and avoid the acidic stuff for regular use and buy something non-corrosive like the MC2 from Wax Wizard. IMHO it's not the wonder solution to removing baked on brake dust as some would say but get a cheap Karcher jet wash and it does make life alot easier.

And welcome to Briskoda!

Thanks Rich,

i have been leaning towards meguiars.

As for wheels they are indeed the worst to clean of all the cars I have owned with the exception of a wire wheeled MGB GT.
