Well, hello from a brand new BriŠkoda member from South Shields, Tyne & Wear. Where do I start? Well, I’d maybe like to start by reminiscing about the first Škoda my Dad bought in 1971, a brand new pale blue S100L four door saloon. I remember sitting in the showroom (I was 7˝) reading the list of ‘extras’ you got with a Škoda; front headrests, inertia-reel seatbelts, glovebox cover, dual-circuit brakes, carpets, child locks etc etc (most of these now sound comical, but were definitely ‘extras’ in 1971). Or should I start at the end? This week I’m the proud owner of a limited edition blue Fabia VRS, numbered 342. Blistering! What a car! I’ve smiled constantly whether driving it, looking at it, washing it or just sitting in it listening to CDs! Leather seats smell niiiccce! Driving it is top of the list of course. What a great colour too. Had some VRS logos made for the front doors (which match the front badge) and it has set it off more than you’d guess. Well that leaves a big hole between 1971 and 2007. If anyone’s interested I can fill you in on my Škoda years in-between, starting with my first car – a Red S110R coupe with a black vinyl roof bought in 1981, which I later hand-painted black (yes, with a tin of car paint and a brush lol!). Over the last 26 years I’ve had eight (or nine if you count the Škoda Rapid 130 I owned twice – but that’s another story). There's some photos at My Skodas Anyway, enough waffling on for now. Nice to be part of a gang. Toddy.

| Hello Toddy & welcome. Seems like you've had your fair share of Skoda's!! And your current one is a fine choice.

Hello again, and thanks to everyone for all the warm welcomes and well wishes. I've obviously sparked memories of the new car motor trade in the 1970s! (I'm only 43, feeling like an old f@rt!) I'm remembering more 'extras'... Reclining front seats (which folded completely flat as well), halogen bulbs (maybe that was MY first Škoda, not my Dads), door pockets, 12 month warranty (that was the biggie - most UK cars were 6). Anyway, I've got an original Estelle and Rapid sales brochure packed away in the garage somewhere, I'll dig it out and scan some of the photos when I get a chance. P.S. vRS is still brill! ![]()

Hello again. As promised I've added a couple of scans from a 1987 Estelle brochure here... My Skodas Everybody say 'ah'. :-) On the theme of 'Extras' I noticed door armrests and a trip meter are mentioned. Heheh. P.S. vRS has gone from brilliant to phenomenal. It's now done 700 miles and is settling in nicely. Cheers, TODDBOD

IMO the black 110 is the nicest looking, although the strangely rare Race Blue sets off the Furbie to best advantage.

My final post on this welcome thread... Have another look at my photos here: My Skodas I've added an image I took whilst in Prague. P.S. The Furby special edition is still an absolute treat. I've seen two other special editions on the road so far. Take Care All. Toddy.
