| Hi there. I'm not a Skoda owner yet, but hope to be one within the next few months. It depends on whether I can persuade the dealer to take my Merc A160 in part exchange for a new Skoda Octavia. I've got my eyes set on an Elegance 1.9 tdi with DSG, and will probably be going in this weekend to discuss terms and sign forms. Last time I was there, they mentioned a 3 month wait for the car to be delivered. Sniff. Here's hoping nothing else will go wrong with the Merc before then! |

| Welcome. Quite a change and glad to see Merc owners becoming converts too. What's gone wrong with the A class so far then? ![]()

| New steering column a couple of weeks ago and hugely expensive service bills. I think the next thing to break will be the rear springs and/or trailing arms. It's a '99 model (i.e. the first model) A160 petrol that I bought second hand 15 months ago. A great concept, but not really a Merc in terms of build quality. I had a ride in one of the new models a few weeks back, and wasn't that impressed. The cabin looks to be better put together and uses better materials, but I just figure that the Octavia is just as well put together and has at least as much room inside. And it's cheaper. |

| HI, I owned an A160 for 2 1/2 years. Worst quality car ever for the price..took on Mercedes direct and won.. for 18 months get telling me nothing was wrong with it, but changed clutch rear springs steering column etc and loaned a a Vauxhall Astra for 2 weeks but said it was repaired under goodwill..and they coughed up some compensation!! Then I sold it via a dealer network that also handled Mercedes. Intend to buy a Fabia VRS in the near future Good Luck TeeBee |
