Hello! My names John, I'm 19, live just outside Aberdeen and I'm studying Electrical & Energy Engineering University. I'm currently running around in my folks Golf 1.6 but have now been looking for my own car and I am seriously considering the Fabia vRS for many reasons ranging from; MPG, Speed, LOW INSURANCE, Looks and Safety/Build Quality. Any more advice about these cars would much appreciated. Thanks! PS - Why are they called Furby's? ![]()

I've had mine for almost three years, but changing to an Octavia next month - will be very sad to see the Fabia go, I've got a special relationship with her You've probably already read all the reviews, but if not take a look at these all over the net for a neatral opinion. For me the best things about the Fabia vRS are the superb fuel economy, subtle sporty styling, comfortable to drive, reliable build and components, but best of all excellent performance. The torque and power all come at once and are low down in the rev range, overtaking is a breeze - its a true wolf in sheeps clothing (handy up there ).You may have also seen the phrase: It's got more torque than a Porsche Boxster, a higher top speed than a Lotus Elise 1.8 and manages 0-60mph quicker than an Alfa 166 2.0-litre Twin Spark If you get one, remember this phrase - its handy to throw in the face of anyone slagging the Skoda badge Its also very easy to modify if thats your thing, and with a few simple mods (and £950ish) you can get about 180bhp and 310lb/ft torque out them! Insurance is group 9, so if get some quotes first you might be talking over £1000 especially if you haven't got a NCD. Also, Aberdeen being former Subaru Impreza capital of Scotland, and a suprisingly high amount of ex-Impreza drivers are now driving a Fabia vRS its got to say something for them! The Furby name probably come about becaue the affection their owners have for them and the difficulty in getting one when they first come out. Anyway, let us know what you go for eventually - and if your looking for a 2004 model with above mentioned mods I know where you can get one ![]()

Hehe, thanks guys. I will be looking for an unmodded one as I'm only 19 so need to keep the insurance down and then after uni I'll remap it..(that's the plan anyway). I have a post in the Fabia section of the forums called "Buying a Fabia vRS" or something so will see what I need to be looking for.
