Default Hi and Hellllppp....

Hello Briskodas...
Name's Howard, use to work for Husqvarna hence howiehus. Selected a 2001 Skoda 1.9TDI Elegance as company car. Had it for 3yrs - only prob was a climate control fault that took several visits to the agents to fix. Job went tits up so life changed from 28k & car to 10k and no car.
Had a Rover 45 which was Ok until a small argument with curb while avoiding a deer deemed it 'uneconomical to repair'...Oh I also regularly tow a 1972 caravan which, when towed with the Skoda, was very stable and was capable of outpacing all the lorries on the motorway.
Now the HELP.... I now have a 1999 T reg 1.9 TDI SLX estate that has done 117000+ mls.
(the best I could afford!)- lots of small faults ie internal bulbs/switches/astray/window mechanisms /elec.mirrors - some of which I have fixed the others I can live with until time and finances permit.

THE PROBS I NEED HELP WITH (and I think the garages’ do too !!) ARE:

1) The engine stops for no apparent reason but will immediately restart OK. Usually when the tank has just been filled (also if used for 'shopping trips' i.e. short runs engine takes 2-3 seconds to restart when warm)

2) The Throttle position sensor sporadically stops working. Usually on a Sunday morning?!?
No accelerator – engine runs at 1200 rpm – Glow plug light flashes on dash. (So can manage to drive to garage). This first happened over Xmas hols – took it to local garage who said it needed to go to a Skoda Dealer. After being in the warm & dry the problem had disappeared?? So I took it to Clist & Rattle in Flax Bourton. They had it for a week, changed a Relay (1J0906381A) to correct cutting out and listed the faults Log as: 17969 Quantity Adjuster (sporatic), 18047 Throttle Position Sensor (sporatic) and 17987 Engine Control Unit Disabled (sporatic). Tested for 9mls charged me £250 and asked me to ‘monitor the fault’ and if it reoccurs they will replace the Pedal sensor for £100ish inc labour. All has been well for a week but Friday – filled tank – 6mls later engine cuts out. Didn't use car on Sat. Sunday morning – no TPS !
Sorry to go on so long - Any Helpful advice will be gratefully received.
