Default Long time lurker...

Hi

This is my first post here, though I have been lurking around as a registered user for quite a while.

I bought my first Skoda mid August. It's an '02 Octavia VRS in silver. I've known the car for about two years as it was previously owned by a mate in work. I was looking to buy an Alfa 156 & he mentioned he might be interested in selling his RS. I wasn't looking at Octavias 'cause they were too much money, but I just couldn't let this one get away.

I've had the car about 3 months now. Obviously I drove it before buying & loved it, but the longer I keep it, the more it grows on me.

Am I worried about 'The Badge'? No, I love the reverse snobbery of the whole 'Skoda' thing. In fact I'm a bit disappointed by how few people crack Skoda jokes now when they find out what I drive. I think the secret's well & truly out & nearly everybody accepts they're good cars.

The previous owner pointed me towards Briskoda & what an excellent site it is. Only problem is; my car was fine before I came here & read about water dumping off the hatch & brakes squealing in reverse. Now these 'features have started appearing on my own car!

Anyway, hello to you all & sorry about the essay; three months of lurking spilling out into a single post.

Cheers

Darren

Welcome from out of the dark

with the water dumping off the hatch, do you mean the water going into the speakers when you raise the bootlid on the hatch version octy? There has never been an official workaround I think. Most people just pup a drop of silicon either side to prevent the water from trickling down the sides.

I *think* there's a tech bulletin for the squeaky brakes in reverse. Affects fabias too. Maybe ask your local dealer about it.

Welcome again, and don't be shy to ask any questions

Interesting About a year ago, I was overjoyed to spot another Skodie, few and far between then around here). Now, spotting several per day, it has taken all the fun out of it; I guess people are catching on...

Welcome

Yes. Bloody annoying. Specially when you live in Plymouth, where it rains almost constantly!

No. Is it 'The Ors'? That's just my nickname from school.
