| Hi all. Haven't driven for a couple of years (financial reasons) but recently bought a 2003 Octavia L&K TDi (PD 130). 79k on the clock but seems to drive quite well. No history since 60k but phoned supplying dealer about cambelt and they had it in a few months ago for full cambelt/water pump so lucky there. Honest of the garage too (Clarion cars Worthing) could have just taken my money. So a main service soon and it should be set for a while. My brother is a taxi driver and has the 110hp version, was generally quite impressed so joined the club. His is only on about 85k but it has cost a small fortune in repairs. Hope I'm luckier. Last car was a cavalier 4x4 turbo I had for ages, so perhaps a vrs would have been a more logical choice but more bothered about mpg than speed these days. The roads have changed a lot in the interim. Noticably busier, more nutters (+1 for me anyway), lower speed limits on all my favourite roads - luckily it was only a SID i triggered this time. ![]() |

| Welcome to the forum! ![]() Sounds as though it's been more than a couple of years to me, I wouldn't say much has changed in the 7 years I've been motoring, other than fuel prices... ![]()

| Hi there, and doubt you'll actually notice much difference in acceleration between between the 130PD and a Cav 4x4, if you keep the revs between 2 and 3 thousand, up to 4th gear, and run out to 4000 in 4th (for overtaking purposes only of course). |

| Thanks for the friendly replies - I signed up without needing a question answered (yet ).Devonutopia - thanks, its was more luck than judgement, I thought it was a 110 at first .Skodalover - probably not as bad in your area, I'm SE/South Coast, as the daily mail says today (must be true ) 'biggest wave of migrants in history'. I do remember getting upset when super hit 70p/l though.Gillywibble - thanks, nice name, the mind boggles. KenONeill - yes, I wasn't as disappointed with the acceleration as I was expecting, and they've both got a six-speed box in common! Thirdtimeluck - I think my boy racer days are behind me, but if I get bored, never say never ....... ![]() |

| Welcome to Briskoda. I'm sure you'll love the car and it should be much cheaper to run than a ch@valier.
