Default My £20,000 Fabia

... well that's got your attention at any rate!

My Fabia vRS arrived on Thursday and all appears well - I can't find any faults at delivery so far - here's the breakdown:

CAR AS PURCHASED

Standard Škoda Fabia vRS - £11,990
- facelift car purchased at pre-facelift price – unregistered car with almost desired spec in showroom purchased to avoid 3 month delivery period – alas that meant I couldn’t have seat heaters…

“Black Magic” metallic paint - £260
- it was that or Yellow (because the Red or Silver look too "ordinary") but the resale potential on a Black one should be better and the only one they had was Black

6 CD changer - £275
- more expensive than buying one elsewhere – but the factory fit one is nicely integrated

Cruise Control - £125
- I only considered the car when I found out Cruise was available – I wouldn’t have considered it otherwise.

Numberplate transfer - £80

Numberplates without EC symbols - £FOC

Extra large rear numberplate - £FOC
- to completely fill the recess area

MODIFICATIONS CARRIED OUT BEFORE DELIVERY

Bespoke two tone leather interior – seats and doors - £1400 (would have been 1200 for just the seats)
- dealing with a local craftsman meant I could get just the result I wanted - when the weather's improved (it's just been snowing in Gloucestershire) I'll take a decent set of photos and drop them on my website

Plastic Boot Dish – DMA 410 003 - £45
- expensive but fits like a glove!

RH Boot Storage Bag – DMA 410 006 - £14
- looks better in the brochure than reality

LH Boot Storage Bag – DMA 410 005 - £13
- ditto

COST AT DELIVERY - £14,202
- I traded in my four year old 2000X 39,000 mile Freelander ES V6 for only £6,000 (against a Glasses Guide price of £8,275) – it cost the original owner over £25,000 – I lost £10000 in just over two years…

ITEMS ADDED SINCE DELIVERY

Domain Name purchased – www.FabiavRS.info - £39 (4 years)
- website in preparation - need some photos

Road Angel - £380
- six licence points this year! Bought at discount from the Land Rover dealer just before I sold it

First Aid Kit - already owned
Fire extinguisher - already owned
Automatic Air Compressor - already owned
Comprehensive Toolkit - already owned
Warning Triangle - already owned
Emergency Waterproof Seat Covers - already owned
Spare Bulb Kit - already owned

TOTAL CURRENT VALUE - £20,000
- allowing approx £5,000 for the numberplate…

THE “WISH LIST”

Parrot CK3100 Integrated Car Telephone - £circa 105+fitting
- because I don’t like my Bluetooth headset

New Car Mats to match the seats - £circa 50
- to get rid of the light grey edges now the seats are blue

Uprated Headlight Bulbs - £30
- if felt necessary

Blue paint for the Callipers - £24 (Halfords 2-pack kit)
- to colour key to the interior

Aluminium Dash Kit - £90
- still pondering this one – will it look naff?

Drawer to go under Radio - £???

Integrated Cupholder by radio - £???
- spotted in the owners manual

Stainless Door Handles + Chromed Mirror Covers - £35 + ???
- I find only the grille surround being chrome looks odd at present

Seat Heater Retrofit - £???
- if the leather seats are too cold...

Less probably at least 10% lost the moment the car gained a registered keeper and turned a wheel out of the showroom.

Blimey mate!

Nice work!

I got www.fabiavrs.co.uk when I bought mine lol... It's got to be done!

I've got the under-stereo draw (recon it was about £35) and the chrome door handle covers (around £35 again)...

I want the cup holder too...

Any pics of the leather??

very good, probably the best way to do it before you pick it up,don't have to loose it for weeks at a time.

be good to see the pictures of the interior when you get the chance.

yer come on Jonsie - show the nice people your seats!!!

I must admit I have seen and sat in the seats - very nice, but I personally would have gone for a lighter colour.

The pics DRJ showed of the door interior did differ a lot to the actual "in the flesh" colour.

drj - follow this link for "draw under radio" - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/article.php?a=43

Default I gave up counting ...

... when mine got to £14000.

I had a leather interior fitted on my heated seats.

Because the new covers have a thicker foam lining, the seats now take a couple of minutes to warm up (as opposed to seconds with the cloth covers), and by that time you've warmed up the leather anyway. So I wouldn't panic about adding the seat heaters unless you're in the Highlands.

Do you want the price mine should have cost inc modified parts or what i've actually paid for it?...lol

Spec sounds good on the car DRJ and you havent even started 'playing' yet

Where did you get the car from? Good service/dealer, let us know.

I agree with regards to the lilac colour, it clashes with the black paintwork.
It may look better in the flesh though.

Nice spec BTW!!

Sorry, don't take that the wrong way. I'm just not a big fan of figures, that's all. Value is what you make it.

It's a "dark powder blue" that seems to change colour noticably with different lighting. It's quite a lot bluer even looks at through the windows. At night it becomes much "blacker".

Here's another shot taken previously with the same camera but not published because of camera shake:

Bamfords of Gloucester - service was fine, friendly and accommodating (bearing in mind the hassle I put them to having the leather installed before delivery).

And I can find no faults at all on delivery either.

The only downside was the low trade-in price and the fact they wouldn't budge on pricing whatsoever. Wouldn't even let me keep the old tax disc and the new one had to be taxed on 27 October 2004 losing me another month's tax since I didn't take delivery for a further three weeks...
