| recently purchased fabia vrS from new now don e 2500 miles. This my fourth skoda in a row (changed from Honda, big improvement). Every time I buy a skoda the dealers close down though !, perhaps it's me. My nearest dealer is now 35 miles away ! and a pain to get to because of work commitments. Couple of questions for those in the know if I can??? This is the first TD I have had, is it supposed to dribble black soot down the stainless tail pipe ? perhaps all TD's do it and you can only see it on the stainless pipe. Continental low profiles are very strange, the demo car had Michelins and performed differently from the Contis. The Contis really follow the white lines with the power on which is a little strange when overtaking. Apart from that and the howl from the rear brakes when reversing I love it and getting used to it by every mile. Comments on the above appreciated. Thanks |

| Welcome to Briskoda Yeah expect black soot from the exhaust. Its aTDI thing. A quick wash with a sponge gets rid. You got Conti's cool. Most of use got the ****ty Michelins

| Stew, I have had mine about the same time and yes the tailpipe design could be better. Just finished washing it and it does shine for a while at least. must check what Tyres I'm running. I still haven't worked out how to change the time on the clock since the clocks went back !! |

| Welcome to briskoda, our friendly little corner of the net. Quite a few people are reporting problems with squeaking rear brakes when reversing, do a search for squeaking rear brakes... The PD diesel power units do kick out a fair bit of soot, have a look at the back of any VAG diesel whilst it is accelerating ![]() |

| Hey Stew, done 1600 in my fab vrs and I know what you mean about the conti's BUT reading other posts on here we got the better deal mate My rear brakes have started to groan but i;m none too fussed....will point it out at the 10,000 service. As for the clock, well just left of the speedo sits a knurled plastic 'knob' thing. To adjust hours just gently turn it to the left and the hours will decrease.......job done ![]()

| Guys, thanks for the info on the clock adjustment, who needs a manual anyway, its just more weight to lug around. Looks like I'm lucky and have Conti's fitted. |

| thanks for reply on the exhaust, tyres and brakes. Probably getting used to the beast now but hard overtaking accross a wet white line is disconcerting !. Interesting difference with the ASR turned off. Ok traction control does it's job and may explain the strange feel as tyres cross the line but seems much less twitchy overtaking with the ASR off. Only other comment.... had to replace 12v outlet (fag lighter) fuse twice. Use the outlet to charge the phone ..... STEW |
