Default New from a wet Birmingham

I have an Aug 2006 Skoda Octavia 4x4 tdi 105bhp with lots of factory options, I previously had a Seat Alhambra with the 1.9tdi 130bhp PD VW engine, power and torque were great (superchip upgraded to 160Bhp) traction in both standard tune and also uprated tune was very poor. The Skoda is a lovely car, comfortable and refined, traction from the 4x4 system is awesome, the only negative is the car needs more power and torque, I am hoping that the 2.0tdi 4x4 will answer that for future buyers, but for me I have this car for another 2years. The car from new had a flat spot at around 2000rpm so I contacted the dealer and they were very helpful, they said they would investigate this with their VAG technical people, Three weeks later I received a call to say a software patch had been made available. After the car was in their workshop for just over an hr it was ready, the power delivery is now smoother. I am told this is due to the engine being the latest Euro IV emission version and there were some ECU glitches? (This is a problem which apparently affects very few 105bhp tdi Skodas, Fabias as well)
The demonstrator I originally drove was a 2005 4x4 tdi, this car had a very low 1st gear and the engine management system seemed to hold the power off in first gear, a benefit for traction in tough conditions maybe? My car is very different 1st gear is still low but the ECU doesn’t hold the power off. My car isnt as quick as the 2005 demonstrator though.
In an attempt to breathe more life into it, I took it to a superchip dealer who I know well and left the car with them, the engineer downloaded the standard map and then later reloaded the upgraded software but the vehicle refused to start. It turns out mine has the latest Bosch EDC16 fuel system control and there are some security features on it. Superchips are working on a solution to this for me. So it is back to the standard tune. (superchips have successfully loaded lots of upgrades to the 105tdi in Audi, VW and Seats applications with no problems?) I have now done 18000miles trouble free miles, oil consumption has now ceased,
I would be really keen to hear from anyone who has had a successful remap or power upgrade on this application in either a late 4x4tdi or a late 105bhp Skoda.
By the way I think the website and club forum is great. I look forward to hearing from your members soon. Sorry for war and peace.
