| Newbie Hi all just calling by to say hello. currently running an Octavia TDI 110 elegance estate, but looking to changing to a DSG hatch - hence the reason for trawling the forums!! Was not to keen on dropping to 105 bhp in the 1.9tdi but 2.0 is steatching the budget. SAo have tested the 1.9 and it seems to have as much pace as my current motor. Only thing I would fault is it seemed a little slow to pick-up turning out of uphill junctions. Anyway think i'd rather stick with an elegance that downgrade to Ambience so I could get a 2.0 - I like my toys - and in the real world the 1.9 is fast enough. Hell 10 yrs ago 100bhp was a lot, and the roads give less chance to use the power now! cheers Slider |

| I don't know the differences in costs, but I'd be saving for a 2.0 TDi DSG Elegance/L&K. They really are a special car imo. Suppose it all depends on driving style, and only you can choose whats best. Have you scoured the local dealers for ex-demos, could be an opportuinity to get more car for the money Welcome to Briskoda ![]()

| been there done that I suppose the time has maybe come when I am getting a bit more "sensible" about my motors. Yes it would be nice to have the extra power of the 2.0 but in reality, on todays roads, how much use is it. Don't get me wrong here, I cut my teeth many moons ago on a Escort Mexico Mk1 and like a good blast as much as any one. But lets be realistic the Mexico was one of THE cars of it's day, but poked out 76bhp on roads that were much quiter than today. No, I think i'll stick to a 1.9TDi, save my self about £1500 plus a bit of diesel and insurance. by the way my dealer offered to sell me a 1.9 elegance DSG demonstator when it became available in 2 months time (they apparently have to keep them for 90 days) but reconed that I would only save about £150 on the price he was offering a new one for today!! - and i've since found another dealer who is £250 cheaper! |

| Thats the position I'm in. I have a 110 elegance at the mo. The 105 elegance is a little bit slow for my liking and the 140 elegance a bit too thirsty and pricey so I'm widening the search. Current favourite is the new 2.2tdi civic when it arrives which is a shame as I don't really want to leave Skoda. I'd buy a Furby VRS if they did an estate with climate control but that's never going to happen ![]()

| deal done well that's it done then - Octavia 1.9tdi Elegance DSG in black, dealer stock so should get it on week - 10 days. Standard Elegance spec except added front parking sensors - don't see the point of these as I can see teh front of the car!! but it was either that or wait for a car to be built. |

| Briskodian | There's something to be said for not doing a 98-point turn. I've got it down to 23 moves and forwards and backwards when parking Actually, I haven't (Tsk!) Parking sensors ... Yey! And no wait also? Sounds like quids in to me ![]() MO |

Too early to say for sure, but first impressions of the DSG box are good and the 1.9 seems to have plenty poke. AND - it looks sooooooooooooo good! |
