| i have recently bought a 2002 Octavia 4x4 Turbo (private). i have had the engine warning light come, took it for a diagnostic check which showed CAM SENSOR fault!. Bought a new one for £51, fitted it and it has made no difference. When i first start the car the engine will not run above 4 thousand revs. If i stop turn it off then on again the problem is sorted. However the next time the car has been left a while, as in over night the exact same problem happens again. There seem to be that many different sensors fitted that i am at my wits end. Does any one have an answer that can help. Also the fuel economy is terrible....24-26 mpg if i am lucky. Oh and Hello everyone, i am brand new!! |

| You need to have the fault codes checked again, VAG COM or dealer equipment will give you a little more info on the fault than just cam sensor. Has it had a cambelt or is it due one?

| the car has done 49,000. still the original cam belt as far as i know. I did notice when changing the sensor that the cam belt felt slack. I thought that i may just tighten up when the engine is running.I had better take it and get the diagnostics done again. Cheers |

| Welcome from a fellow 4X4 owner. The cam belt is overdue a change since its maximum life is now 4 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first. Get the water pump changed at the same time, plus the cam belt tensioner.
