| Briskodian | Towing with an Octavia 1.9 SDi Hi my husband and I have an Octovia 1.9 SDi and a Fabia and we love them both. We used the Octavia to tow are caravan. However we havejust bought a new caravan. Before buyingit we checked out the kerb weight of the Skoda which is just over 1400 kg and it was fine against our caravan using the 85% rule. However, we have just looked on a site and been told that the maxium towing capacity for the 1.9SDi is 850 KG and our caravan is 1100. Will it be unsafe to tow this caravan with this car. Any ideas. | Re: Towing with an Octavia 1.9 SDi Welcome to briskoda, I belive the sdi has a low towing capacity, just a thought does your 'van weigh 1100 fully loaded? or is that unlaiden, also check out the figues for the Fabia, as we used to tow 1000kg 'van with a 1.9tdi Fabia. Sorry that the news isn't better. |

| Re: Towing with an Octavia 1.9 SDi could the lower tow limit be due to the power output not the cars kerb weight ?

| Re: Towing with an Octavia 1.9 SDi I used to tow with a an SDi Octy estate, no ball of fire to be sure but the car towed in a very stable manner ....keep the weight of the van down and you should have no problems, I used a small motor bike battery if I was going to use the on site electrics and always drained the hot water tank, put as much of the stuff you need in the car as well...and take it easy for a while to see how it feels

| Briskodian | Re: Towing with an Octavia 1.9 SDi Thanks very much everyone. The unladen weight is 940 KG so we will give it a try and put most of our belonging in the car. If its no good we will probably trade by Fabia in for an TDi. However, the diesel consumption on the SDi is amazing!!!! AnneR |
