Default Irish Mk2 vRS being targeted by Thieves

Hey guys,

I have been told that someone has had there Mk2 vRS targetted by scum (I don't think they have been on here). I don't want to go into it too much for fear of giving incorrect info but bascially their house was attacked, with them there and they tried to get keys...wrong ones luckily . The owner has now parted company unfortunately .

So keep an eye out, you never know when someone could be watching where your from.

Not trying to scare anyone but I think people should be made aware.

The member map is a useful tool to the thieves especially if you put an exact pin on your location!

This is an increasing crime across the whole of the UK & Ireland. There's been hundreds of cars stolen like this in Yorkshire, mostly when the owners have left the car on the street or drive and the keys on display inside the house (i.e. chucked on kitchen side or hung on a hook next to the front door.

If you want a nice car, then keep it int garage, take your keys to bed, and also a large baseball bat.

The problem is that if these guys really want it they WILL take it, regardless of where keys are and what you have.

But they will always go for a something handier to pinch ie. good lock on the front door when i lock the front door its like i'm locking up my car!, good car alarm these guys know what to look for... I've a Clifford alarm and my cars never been touched but other slower cars on my road have! You can have any car you like i cant comprehend people that sell their just because someone had a go at robbing its not like the same bloke will come back for the one that got away!

I am taking delivery of a new RS in January.

Having said that, I just blew 3k on an Axis IP security system for the house with 2 wireless ip cameras inside and 2 vandal proof dome cameras for the outside with full pan, tilt and zoom. I can actually monitor it on my 3G phone or from the web at work (each camera has it's own webserver), or even do remote desktop, and adjust the ptz and setup recording sessions. Full motion/heat detection and IR for night vision too, plus 2 way audio and of course image enhancement software so I can see the scumbags coming to nick my car. Oh..alarm plus digital communicator for the cops installed too

Currently I am resurfacing my driveway and the car is on the road. Local scumbags who are now 15/16 go around every night with a rugby ball. Even tonight I saw them hop it off the bonnet off my neighbours 06 Passat real malicious like. Already had a run in with them this haloween and bait a few heads (with help of old man actually) when one of them tried to spraypaint my rear spoiler (luckily the can was empty or just out).

Same thing last year when they used aerosol can/lighter to set fire to peoples trees/shrubs in their front garden. This time the cops were called.

I hate to think what will happen with my new vRS. Seriously thinking of getting a couple of my mates around who they don't know for some meet mr. h.url action.

Kids/Teenagers have a serious lack of respect these day. I remember I time you'd be sh*tting it if an adult came out after you. Now they just hurl abuse at you. Sometimes the Parents are as bad...my little Johnny wouldn't do that

Actually the 3k got me 2x207W axis wireless ip cams for inside of house, a 213 outdoor camera with full ptz, 26x optical zoom and mounting kit, plus add on infrared illumitaors for all 3. Also bought 4 licenses for their camera station softwre. The other camera I got was about another grand on top of that for rear of house. And heat detection is no big deal. Lots of cheaper IP cameras have that. Heat and motion detections saves on hard disk space when recording.

Back to the car theft , you lads are waisting your time putting fancy car allarms on your cars , if they want your car , they will just kick in your front door and go looking for the keys , if they dont find them , they will go looking for you . youll be looking at a couple of lads in banaclava's with weapons in your bedroom asking politely for the keys

never bring your keys up stairs to bed , your endangering your selfs and your family , at the end of the day , its only a car

if you want a real deterrant , use a car tracker . it will have a little icon flashing in the window to let people its tracked , and they will not go near the car

the chances of them kicking your door in and coming upstairs for you keys are a bit remote !!...unless you have a car worth over a hundred grand!!.......not a twenty grand skoda!!.....the risk is too great for such a low return!!.....tracker is pointless here as the police have limited equipment, unlike the uk where most forces have several cars fitted with the recievers!!.....plus there is no insurance discount for having one fitted here!!

Ive got nothing to do with them or fit them . Go ask any garda and they will tell you about thiefs kicking in front doors to get the keys , and yes , they will do this for a VRS or any other performance sports car . I personally know of 3 people this has happend to in the past year and a half

2 in straffan , a 2005 gti mk golf and a 99 E39 m5 . The other lad was in celbridge 2002 VRS , he got a right kicking because he fought back

the reason they are being targeted is they are a " sleepers" they dont draw to much attention . They are been used as get away cars in robbies ect

PS whats the point of a fancy alarm system if there are going to have the keys to turn it off?

Regarding the tracker

you can set it up to a "track" every 2 minutes . You also get info of where the car is within 7 metres . you can track it yourself if needed
