Default Fabia vRS 6 speed gearbox for sale

Well, as it's not out my car (the new one isn't even in yet ) I figured I'd offer it up for sale. I can't be bothered to hang on to it as spares. Done 58,000 miles but still rock solid. Only been subjected to mildly tuned power.....

Logistics of collection, etc? Well, it weighs A LOT! 2 people required to lift ideally. Or, if you want to arrange your own pallet type service, the box will be avaliable to collect during working hours.

I expect I can bring it to meets as well, but none planned until February - JKM day & Isle of Wight trip.

£100.

It's the stock 02M yes, with the stock diff. Been fine in my car. I'm only swapping out so I can use the peloquin diff. Was easier for me to get a box and swap over whilst my car was still on the road. My new box is actually from a cupra ibiza TDI

Guess you'll be going to JKM? I will be, but whether I'm running or not is still up in the air....

wont the derv gearbox be too long for the 20vt in the VRS? i seem to remember reading somerwhere on scn that some guy stuck a derv gearbox onto a 20VT in an elise and he was doing 120mph in 3rd gear or something as the ratios are quite long..... is this correct?

Would this be a bad thing, I think not.

Quite a few Derv boxes gone into 20v petrol cars, mostly by IP. Unbelievable top speeds. ......on a private road.

Just out of interest would an LCR box fit into a MK4 CUPRA IBIZA 20VT? im buying a cupra next year and really want a 6 speed box ..... is it possible? or would it be better to go for the derv box? and if so how would it take its toll on the engine side of things? how would the power come in? etc etc

A petrol 6speed would bolt straight on but you will need other bits from the drive train, starter motor etc. Not worth going for the derv box below 300bhp/torque, it won't push it.

I can keep it stored until the JKM day, or whenever. As long as it WILL go at some point.

Des - Pretty sure there is no starter motor attached to mine. I have had to remove the one off the fabia box, and this will be fitted to the new box, which I'm 99% sure did not come with the starter motor.

I'm 75% sure that the starter off my petrol 6 speed along with the other bits will fit.

well i paid quite a lot for my 6 speed but its a lot less common and came with a lot more bits. mines from an S3 and came with prop, drive shafts, selectors, transfer box, gear **** and cost me £800.

then a starter motor cost another £65 delivered brand new.

clutch will cost me a total of £400 for a stage 3+

so not a cheap upgrade but when i have blown up 2 standard boxes its cheap in the long run

Right, as Des has "bought" this, I'm locking this. Feel free to kick off where this one left in car chat or something.
