| I had an old escort for similar resaons and use. Was ace ![]() Bought it for £300. Serviced it myself, parts were stupidly cheap - 2 new front vented discs - £20 the pair, new front pads - £8, Michelin tyres £30 each Kwik fit oil and filter change (once I found out they did it and to avoid all the hassle) £12 etc etc Cheap to insure too. Only had a couple of faults - the throttle cable snapped (brand new main dealer part was £9.99) cracked a headlight (main dealer price £18) and a hose split from the water pump (cut the end of and refitted so it only cost me a jubilee clip) Did 68,000 miles in 12 months in it and traded it in for £1,000 ![]()

| Auctions will be your best bet then. Before I got the A6 Avant last year (after getting rid of a nearly new A4 Sline and my vRS Combi), I ran a SAAB 9000 CSE for 2 weeks I bought from auction. Cost me £175 with 4 months tax and a years MOT. I then part ex'd it against the A6 for £250. I went to York Auction Centre |

| The plus side of that one is that you could use it as a mini-cab ![]() Anyway, you're a scouser, can't you just TWOC something when you need it? ![]()

| Why not try a Favorit or Felicia? They're great fun and cost peanuts to insure. |
