| Ok when i say cheap i mean ridiculously cheap! My 7 year old son has wrecked his PC again, but this time its terminal, so I'm after something really cheap that is running on XP. Spec wise I'm not really too fussed as he is disabled and has global learning delay so all he uses it for is: browsing the internet, basic MS Word (to help him with writing) and to store his photo's It needs to be compatible with an AGP monitor and ideally have at least 4 USB ports. Someone must have an old PC that in reality is almost worthless, that he could put to good use,WHY? |

| Hi I have an old computer sat in my cupboard at home. I'm not sure of the spec, but it was a decent one 4/5 years ago. It has windows and the needed programs installed to. If your interested, PM and I'll get you more details tonight! Phil

| How does a Duron 1200 with 384MB RAM sound? Should be fairly cheap and assuming your hard disk is working you should be able to copy his stuff over.

| sounds like you need to install ubuntu rather than xp to stop him messing so much ![]() bear in mind xp needs at least 512 of ram to run at any decent speed, it will install with 384 but run like treacle

| Not heard of ubuntu before, will take a look when i have more time. My vaio laptop had 256MB when new and it was plenty quick enough for around 6 months (until i started to fill it up) which is why i was not too fussed about the ram size, after all he doesn't store much on a PC anyway. |
