Default Decat - Turbo problems

Hello all,
Seems to be a lot of different opinions about the effects of a full decat exaust system on the turbo for a Fabia Vrs

So can you help
Is this a bad idea running the standard turbo? coming from a impreza the first thing to do is to get rid of all the cats and then remap.
I want to remap but want to do the right mods before, so was thinking increase the breathing filter and 160 air intake and increase the output so full decat system???

I am I going down the wrong path??

Please help

Paul

Hi Paul,
On the Fabia, because of the size of the standard turbo fitted if you put on a decat it will cause the boost to run away, and make the car go into limp mode.
Its because of this that we would recomend that you kept the cat.

PD160, panel filter, cat back exhaust and a Remap would be good though

Hope this helps,
Luke

But if you ditch the stock turbo and go for something bigger (to hit, say 200bhp), then a decat would be okay (if the car was remapped after the decat and turbo were fitted)?

yep, its just down to the size of the standard turbo makes it run away when mapped because of it not having enough back pressure.

Hybrid turbos and most of the time the Garrett turbos are fine.

Hi there,
so along the same lines here I feel.
I have purchased a Blueflame sports cat and down pipe. and will be shortly getting the full middle and rear sections too to finish on a 6x4 tailpipe.
Am I going to have the same problems with loss of turbo pressure because obviously the sports downpipe and cat allow the system to breath easier thus reducing back pressure?
Have I made a mistake or will a remap help this or this something else I could do to rectify the problem I am likely to have? I do not want to change from the standard turbo at present...

Please advise...

no you will be fine with a Sports cat, its just the stright through nature of the decat that causes the problem
