Default Mintex extreme brake pads and mintex OE discs

Cheers to you guys who fitted these parts on saturday morning and sadly took off my ARB after my insurance company ultimatum.

Initial impressions after 300 miles, top notch. my old discs/pads were 19.3k old and these bad boys got a bedded in quite nicely, by the smell of it when i got my car back on saturday.

had mintex 1144s on my old car so know the idea and i can now brake at high speed (>50mph) and be happy the car will stop. Quickly. Fabia vRS owners will sympathise with this.

Cheap brake upgrade for those thinking a 312mm conversion is the be all and end all. Discs and pads and fitting was £150. The 1144 pads were £120 a year ago. You do the maths against it/DS2500.

Cheers again jabba, see you in the near future for a remap

I fitted the same mintex disc and extreme pads bought from Jabba to my Fabia VRS yesterday . Only done 45 miles since fitting them and they are bedding in nicely! They are much better than the original brakes, which I thought were good anyway. There is more pedal feel to them and you can really feel them working when you apply slight pedal pressure. I havent done any hard stops yet as they are not bed in properly. But as they are at the moment, I have no doubts they will stop the car effortless from high speed!! Well worth the upgrade and at very little cost!

Was thinking of using the M1144's when the standard TT pads (312mm conversion) need replacing.
Sound like they are pretty good.

UPDATE

Here we are 3k down the line, of which 2.5k was motorway mileage. took the beast home with a "spirited run" from town back home. this was my a/b road commute for 5 yrs.

the benchmark was my old 206 HDi (126bhp) on eibachs with newish eagle f1's using mintex 1144 pads.

Standard car - overshot old braking markers, after 7 miles no brakes left, too much heat. back end slewing evrywhere wheb stamped on.

Mintex setup - more pedal movement than old car (could be fluid etc) BUT remember - the brakes are only as good as the tyres they are stopping, ABS featured heavily tonight - cos im on legal/soon to be illegal semi slick T1-r tyres - but no brake fade, lots of stopping power and a cracking smell to boot when I got out. (reminds me of when they were bedded in by jabba) The corner at 7 miles provided lots of light rear end movement but ive got rid of the jabba arb so to be expected. The car stopped much quickerbut can only expect more when new rubber is sourced.

will leave suspension as standard cos of insurance at mo. quite a difference seen for a small outlay.

bear in mind all speeds compared to the benchmark are +10mph, the brakes on dead tyres are spot on. for the price I cant fault em. cant compare for ds2500s but for the price a stealer will charge you for standard hunks of jobby, go for the mintex.

What time is it?

time for a remap

shecht and yes that is the scots version of the word sxxt. cant decide what to do about front brakes and not wanting to spend a fortune on them, had the car mapped 12k ago and wish it would stop quicker but dont really want to spend 300 quid then the fitting to sort this out.

Sorry to re-use a thread that's a few months old, but I need to change my front pads. As far as I know the discs are fine at the moment. I've been recommended the Mintex fast road pads (1144s I believe?).

Has anyone used these pads with the standard OEM discs? I'd rather not change the discs yet if I can avoid it.

Cheers,
Stu

Nice one; thanks Decron and others!

I had read that a few days ago which completely confirmed the use of those pads, i just wondered whether it was going to be OK using the OEM discs with those pads. As it turns out I've gone for new drilled discs as well, but just the standard 288mm diameter.

Thanks all for your advice, can't wait till the pads are on - standard pads are poor!
