| Thanks again to the JKM bunch and Stu / Steve for organising this. I found it rather more interesting than I anticipated. Won't comment on others first, but will put mine down to get the ball rolling ![]() Old graph is one of a few years ago when I had the AMD map on. I had to admit that I wasn't that impressed with how the car drove on the road (ignoring the RR results). After having a few more mods done and a remap at Forge, I was quite eager to see the difference - see new graph. Have to say, I was initially rather curious as to why the car now feels so much better than it did before. I didn't have my AMD printout to compare on the spot, but now back home and I dug it out to scan it in and compare. Given that both were run on a dyno dynamics rr calibrated in "shootout mode", I'd believe that the results can correlate. The new map is only a few HP more. However, there's quite a difference in torque ![]() So, it proves to me that the end result bhp is not necessarily an indication of how fast or quick a car feels on the road - you would say that the two different maps give similar bhp therefore feel the same. This couldn't be more wrong ![]() I guess I'm probably just restating the obvious , but it does mean that those who are disappointed with the end bhp needn't be - it's clearly not the be all and end all of performance benchmarks ![]()

| It feels better simply because you have much more Torque Xav. Torque is actually the key figure not HP.

| First things first... Thanks to Stu for giving me a lift down to Sainsbury's/JKM this morning. Second, thanks to JKM for the work that's been put in on the car over the past week - really does feel like new again with the gear shift and brakes in particular and no sign of creaky ARB bush. As for the run, obviously I was expecting it to be pushing out significant oomph, though I did get the comment from Jim that as revs rise, the power plateaus, a possible short coming of restrictive intercooler and piping. One for the future perhaps because it doesn't particularly need any extra go out on the road. As for the power vs torque issue, one for the techies here ; if power is a function of torque, then how is it that these two variables can differ wildely between applications. Take mine and Jason's cars today. Peak torque were about equal at 375 ftlb, but obviously the petrol engine is going to give higher power (as was the case today). So how does it work?Anyhow, trust you had a nice lunch, sorry I didn't stay looked like a bit of a queue there on the Eastern road to get east bound on the A27! Thanks

| Power = (Torque * RPM) / 5252 So presumably to get higher power your peak torque was at a higher RPM? Chris

| Xav, I heard the power output wasn't up much via the MSN grapevine earlier on today, but looking at those graphs side by side, that sure looks like the usable range is MUCH better on your new map (not surprising as the maps on this engine have improved significantly, I'm sure AMD (if they were about under that name) would come up with a decent improvement too. I am a little surprised though as I was expecting to see closer to 190-200 on yours as well, based on similar hardware and me getting told the hybrid stage 1 or 2 was hardly different in performance. Really hope I can get mine properly sorted soon, uprated injectors are not happening so it's back to using propane I reckon at some stage ![]()

| just one quick question, can JKM or anyone from here tell from looking at the print outs what the top speed would be of each vehicle? |

| I know a certian programmer who has AmD background who is now on his own and is making alot of progress in the PD field. Alot more changes to the code than the old AmD software.

| not really as that would be down the drag coefficient and gearing.

![]() if you know the weight of the car, the drag, the gear ratios, torque, etc you can use a forumala to work out the top speed..... i'm sure i've got it in a reference book somewhere... i'll see if i can find it ![]() | |

| That may be so, but I aint scanning this lot in and editting all the plates out, but I'm just going through the printouts now and will list out max bhp & torque (JKM will have them on the website during the week). If any one wants their graph posted up then I'll do it for them.

| Did I match Stu down to the tenth of the BHP? I never knew. ![]() I just wanted to say thanks to JKM, and that their RR is awesome! It's one of the only ones I've to (apart from another DD one) where you can see the plot being plotted on the screen in front of you. Tea was great as well - Needed a good cuppa when the clouds started rolling in. And thanks to Kate for looking up Allards website, so I could ring them up and give them the good news (and discuss possible further action of course... )Oh, and thanks to Chris for helping me out when I got all lazy over fitting my spacers on the back of the mongrel. Loving the new wider stance of it.

| my torque matches book, bhp was slightly under book but with 2k on the clock and jkm lads saying they didnt want to over do it as they never had a octy sport before its a good result. the lads did say the car could have got slightly higher bhp so its a good result. When the car has done 10k and loosened up it will be interesting to see how it performs then. |
