Hi,

Can you quote me for fitting only a set of 312mm front discs and pads plus changing the calliper carriers to 312mm should I supply the items in question, plus a bleed and top up if required (You put DOT5.1 in last time IIRC).

Also can I have more details on your "JKM" discs and a price on a set of those. How do they compare to other brands of grooved discs etc as I might be interested in trying a set if the price was good.

Thanks

Mark

EDIT: Oh the car is an Octy II by the way

Hi,

Your looking at approx £140 plus VAT to install the front brakes including a fluid change with DOT 5.1

More info & prices on the discs can be found here:
JKM Performance Brake Disks - SKODA

I have these on my car and cannot fault them, we haven't yet fitted them to a Octy II so cannot comment, other customer's with different models that we have fitted them too have been very happy with them.

Hope this helps
Kate

£140 + Voddy And Tonic?

Can you confirm that as even the main dealer only quoted 1hr labour. (£90 and other indys quoting £50).

I was told since the wheels/discs were off anyway the pads/discs/carriers wouldn't take more than a few minutes hence the low time)

I'm not after a full brake fluid change, just opening the bleed nipples as the callipers are pushed back in and then topping up of the small amount that comes out when you bleed the brakes.

In terms of the brakes discs, I'd already seen that page, but wanted to know if they are hard wearing or softer and if there are any particular brake pads they are known to work well/badly with?

Hi,

Sorry, for a start that should have read £140 inc VAT.

I have quoted for a brake fluid change however if this is not required then yes the cost will be less. Our standard charge for changing front Brake Discs & Pads including the carriers is £75.00 plus VAT assuming no problems with seized parts etc. The additional costs for fluid will depend on how much is used but if you are not having a full break fluid change then I expect this to be no more then approx £10. So proving nothing else is required then approx £100 inc VAT in total.

Regarding the Brake discs we have used them on various VAG cars with both OEM pads and Ferodo DS Performance pads and have found that they both work well with the discs. (at present I don’t think there are Ferodo DS Pads available for the Octy Mk2).

The discs themselves are made by a leading UK disc manufacture, they aren’t made harder or softer than the OEM equivalentdiscs but have 8 grooves to allow for rapid gas expulsion and deglazing of the brake pads, leading to improved resistance to disk distortion. We find they are vibration free and provide more efficient braking than standard discs & with OEM pads.

Hope this helps
Kate

Thanks Kate,

I'll be ordering and collecting brake parts come pay day so might give you bell to arrange something.

I'm thinking OEM discs and EBC redstuff ceramic pads as have seen good comments on these, so it's just a case of which way to go on the discs.
