Back wiper - BRISKODA

I've got a '57 plate Octavia Vrs and when the back wiper is on it seems to make a snapping noise when returning to it's original position, after wiping the water away.
Is this to remind you that it's on or do I have a problem..?

Sounds like something isn't quite right there.

Is the blade very old? If so I'd go get a new one and fit it.

Isn't a '57 reg car under a year old? In which case isn't the correct answer "get ye to a dealership young sir"?

I'd also check that the cover that goes over the spindle isn't out of place.
