Question Brake pads for Octavia Ambiente 1.6

Hi people

I've got an Octavia Ambiente 1.6 75kW auto, and I'm interested in buying some replacement brake pads and discs before the old ones go out.

Any recommendations as for replacement pads and discs? I am satisfied with the stopping power of the original brakes, but fed up of the incessant brake dust and the very loud groaning noise when creeping forward in traffic or when stopping very gently. At least they don't squeal.

I have a friend going to the 'states soon and I am thinking of getting a set of EBC greenstuff pads. The part number appears to be the same between the Octavia 1.6 and the north american Golf/Jetta 2.0.

Also, I vaguely remember someone posting a long time ago that there were a couple of different Skoda part numbers for brake rotor discs, and they were able to get their dealer to install a slightly bigger or slightly thicker rotor on their Octavia 1.6 and it worked better. Any ideas?

Ensure the Greenstuff pads you get are the latest formulation. The old ones are rubbish but the new ones OK apparently.

Can't help with the rotors though. You could always ring a Skoda dealer in the UK for advise.
