cable problem

hi everyone,i wonder if anyone could help me with this problem.

1- the alternator black cable that is fixed on the circuit panel over the baterie in my fabia 2001, heated and blew up its the fuse. its been some months now since i am trying to find the prob, but in vain.

worse of all, i have a second black cable that comes right next to the aternator s that is starting to heatten also.all diagnostics reveled no problem on the alternator.i disconnected the power steering main switch to get a glance of the problem,but unfortunately that was not it either

so please people ,help me out

what could cause this insanity

ps:i have 3 freinds of mine that have the same prob,since we have the same car,3 years of service,isnt that weird

<bump> Can any of our Techies help, please? vegetu lives in Haiti, if I remember correctly, so is a bit outside normal lines of help.

Normally heat generated in cables is due to a high resistance. Have you checked to see if any of the cables have got any corrosion on them at all ?? Make sure all the earths are nice and tight from the battery to the alternator and the fuse box.

This happens when the electrical flow is of higher charge than what is permitted on the fuse. Its happen to me before when I mucked around with the battery causing the wires to cross, hence an overload. Took it to the mech, he changed the piece of blown out fuse which was basically a piece of metal conducting electricity ( with the correct rating ) and voila...car is back to normal........

Dunno if the problem that I encountered is similar ...but here goes.....I have noticed that the main lead cable that runs from the battery ( the +ve I believe ) tends to corrode because of ovewrflowing acid from the battery. If this occurs, please have the mains lead CHANGED because this corroded mains lead would cause a whole lot of electrical problems to the car. BEar in mind that this is a mains lead.....this was a cause of failure for my power steering FYI....
