Default Cambelt change 1.6 8 valve

A friend of mine at work has a 1.6 Octavia which has covered 74000 miles and is wondering if he should be thinking about changing his cambelt at his next service. Any ideas ?

Hi. I don't know how the servicing regimes compare, but I asked the same question recently of my 1.8t and got these (clicky) replies.

I don't have my service schedule book to hand, but I think it's 80k...

I had it replaced at about 32K in my wifes 1.6 Octy. Reason the car started making an alarming noise which garage thought could be the belt. Turned out to be the distributer!
