Default Cleaning EGR Valve and/or inlet manifold on a pd130

Is there a guide with pictures? knocking about anywhere?

Do I need any extra parts?

What would be best to use? Carb cleaner?

I'm not THAT mechanically minded so any help/ advice/ warnings would be appreciated

Hi there is something on here i read very recently about someone who just done his.Apperntly it took him 5 hours of thorough cleaning with carb cleaner to the EGR and the Inlet manifold too with a warning of excessive muck coming out and soiling all your clothes too in the process. No extra parts were used except a new seal for the EGR that bolts to the manifold.
Wish you luck

Well I went to clean it today, took the pipe off and looked into the EGR and although its black/oily in there, there is no "fluffy" build up as I've seen in pics, I can see the metal sides under the black oil stuff.

My car has done 35k, used millers a few times and redex once. Turned the egr right down on vag come about 2k miles ago.

Is this a good sign?

Sounds good to me.

If you are taking the inlet manifold off you should replace its gasket.
