Default confused

Hi every-one, well this time it`s the battery, got it checked and plenty of power, yet after using a small battery operated compressor to inflate a tyre, as it was flat, and discovered to have a screw inbeded in it, the battery failed to turn the engine over, and all the dash-board lights went wonky, or flashed off and on. Any ideas out there as what could be the problem. Much welcomed.

Default Re: confused

the dash lights flashed due to the battery being flat

the battery might show it has a good charge, say 12.7 volts , but that doesn't necessarily mean the battery is any good , i have fully charged up batteries at work , put them on the car and the car won't even turn over
the newer lead calcium batteries are either good or dead , there seems to be no middle ground like the older type batteries where the charge will die over time

i would get the battery and charging system tested thoroughly , but i suspect the battery is at fault

Thank-you ric04vrs as i went and got a new battery and up to know seems to be doing the job, as " Halfords" say the alternator is 100%, in a test they did. And the old battery makes a very nice ordament in the garage. LOL. . Much appreciated thanks again.
