I am speaking about a chip offered on ebay germany:

This claim that they sell a chip that fits / replace to a certain control unit and gives an extra 45bhp and 80Nm all this for about EUR100.
What do you think? Did any of you considered this?
Should I try? Assuming that I know a thing or two about electronics (in general - not automotive) and I have acces to friends garage (no tunings). Risks?

This questions beacuse I am from eastern europe and hundreds of pounds represent yearly income for some of us around here and there are not many garages offering petrol engines tuning overe here (they are not to many petrol engines around).

I am not yet very used to this forums unwritten rules and hope it is not a bad thread to open.

Not a bad thread - but I would steer clear of tuning boxes like this chip sounds. I very nearly got one myself, but was swiftly warned away from it by other people on this site.

The seller has some negative feedback to, German is not my strong point but the feedback seems to relate to non supply of goods.

Looks like it might be a proper replacement ECU chip rather than just the usual tuning box. Personally I'd steer clear, as it's not a reputable source, you can't tell how it's been configured, and is far too cheap for this sort of thing...

It will be difficult to install, soldering surface mount devices need special equipment and skill.
It's probably a pirated copy from some tuner, that would explain the price.
But if you have the right ecu number and other options are too expensive go ahead.
