| I've been messing about with my head unit installation tonight and have noticed something from the first time. It may or may not be a problem and may or may not be related but I can't remember it doing it before. When turning the ignition key to position 2 to get the electrics on (but with the radio off so its nice and quiet inside the car) I get a 'ticking' noise from the dash somewhere. Its pretty much like the noise 'ticky' clocks make when you're lying in bed at night. Does anyone elses Octy do this or have I got a problem? Any ideas/help/comparisons greatly received. Dave

| When my battery's too flat to start, yes, I get that clicking like mad - never tried it with just the ignition key and a quiet car though. Suspect it's some pump relay type thing... Rob. |

| Thanks for the reply Rob, I'm a little worried that I've caused it some how. Its not really that loud, you certainly can't hear it over the radio at normal volume. The car starts fine too. Nobody willing to check their car for me, please and thankyou?!

| I'll go check mine as i need to lock up anyway...brb ![]() Well something is "ticking", but i can't tell if it's electrical, or just the car cooling down after a hot day... Last edited by MonkeyHanger; 16-08-2004 at 21:08. |

| Much appreciated, I think i'm just being paranoid, you can't even hear it when running the fan/heater system on its lowest speed setting. You can do without new noises though when you've just made changes.
