Haven't a clue I'm afraid but welcome to Briskoda.

Some very nice motors on that site! FabiaTDi will be wiping the drool off his keyboard.

You could speak to Awesome Gti. They do 1.8T conversions.
A snip at £5,000 although this is for a mk3 Golf.

Rich - its a good job I have a keyboard cover!

I thought about doing this myself, but have since decided to go a different route. Was quoted about 6k to do the conversion by TSR about 2 years ago. I'm now going to try to mod the origional 1.4 16v engine.

A turbo conversion is available for this running .8 bar boost and giving 160bhp. With a few internal engine mods (cams, forged pistons and conrods) could get the boost up to about 1.5 and hopefully get to look around the 220bhp mark!!

mmmmmm. Get asked what u got under the bonnet after leaving most things standing. Then reply 'only a 1.4 m8! he he!

dont use the "small" 1.8T with only 150/180 hp. use the 225 hp 1.8T!

It is available from TSR in somerset. Cost is £2500 fitted according to their website. They also do a sequential gearshift conversion for £650! :p

www.tsr-performance.com

Not been there since it was taken over, so don't know what they r like, but they always used to be very helpful.

I'd love to get it done asap, but lack of funds at the moment has kept me to scaring people with the exhaust instead!

Hmm...160bhp from the 1.6...

Wonder if that's just on the 16v...not that there's much point
in me asking, not like I can afford it...

It's under the "news" section.

Not sure about if they do shipping though, or even if it would
be possible to ship!

£2500 would see you with about the same power without adding a turbo and lower insurance too I'm sure

And don't forget, the 1.4 weighs less than the 1.8T with ancillaries ergo better performance

One thing to note, getting 180+ from a 1.4 does impact driveability (or I would assume it does and I'm quite happy for anyone to prove otherwise )

I would love to know more about what you could get out of the 1.4 16v without going with the turbo option. Could you let me know some details please?

Its a 215 bhp conversion that Erik is offering

Or if you go for a 1600 its 232

Still reckon it would be "peaky"! What does it rev to Erik? 7500? 8000?

Mmmmmm. 215 ponies from a non turbo 1.4! Can you imagine the amount of people that would annoy. He he. With the added bonus of no lag. :p

Throttle bodies {nice induction sound }, management, cams, head, verniers etc. Revs up to 11500rpm if you really, really want! 160 is totally road useable 215 isn't as docile but is great fun!
160 is attainable without too much work and keeps stresses to normal production engine level, should have a demo engine in a Polo by then middle of next week
