| i have noticed over the last few weeks my exhaust seems to make a rattle noise when i close my car door. i took the car out today and seemed a bit worse. when you rev the car and come back of the gas it seems to rattle slightly. it doesnt sound like baffles but tm not totally sure, it could be somettthing simple like a loose bracket but then again it might be a problem with the exhaust itself. does anyone know if this would be covered under warranty? as i know some places grasp on to the wear and tear quote quite a lot.(my car is 2.5 years old with 19k on the clock)

| i had a similar problem with my car took it back to the dealer i got it from and they welded the exhaust and fitted a new heat shield just incase the noise was not coming from the fractured pipe all FOC so you might as well try it and see what they say. (my car is 4 years old and has 74,000 miles on it and still original exhaust so they would have been well within their rights to refuse or charge me) |

| Its proberbly just the exhaust hitting the heat shield because its come loose from one of its mounts.

| i think the exhaust has dropped. gap between exhaust and bumper is big enough to get my fist in between.

| Sounds like either one of the rubber mounts has snapped or come off its mounts. The 2 rear most ones should be reasonably easy to get at if you can get under the car. I recall them both being on the backbox. The other mount is midway down the car, where you can see a large metal cross member.

| AFAIK the standard exhaust is normal steel with just the tail pipe trim in stainless.

| Standard is steel, my original one which is no longer fitted had started to rust where one of the brackets was welded to the box.

| by all accounts they're not cheap either. If they are the same unit as the passat exhaust the middle section is around the 350 nugget mark from somewhere like national or kwik fit...
