around 330bhp for the AUQ, BAM's have stronger bottom ends.

I think its the rods Garry. Its usually the rods that tend to fail in high output engines, cause by excess pressures, fatigue or rev's.

I'm going to stick my neck on the block and await the backlash, but my money would be on a modified TFSi powered car to be up there with the best of them.

Well Skud if your torque figures are 367lbft she must be pretty quick imo.
But i think an octy would win over a long distance.

Mine was reliable with 460bhp, used it everyday no problem. You just need to build the engine nice and strong before putting a big turbo on.

You have to average something like 68 for 3000 miles, take out fuel stops, congested cities & mountain roads & high speeds are essential to get close. Its about driving very hard but with a bit of common sense. Ive competed in 4 Cannonballs, Outran a Spanish roadblock, (that was mainly aided by Spanish stupidity) Been tailed by Helicopters, Baited by an unmarked Police car & yet only been stopped once for a chat & a few difficulties at borders, never got a ticket & never had an accident.
The Octy is a quick easy car to drive & with sorted handling, big brakes & 4WD it gains alot of time on the twisties & can keep up with most cars except on the Motorways where the 200+ mph cars are in a league of their.

Also being a Skoda it tends to get less attention from the Police,. they prefer to catch Lambos & Fezzers
.
I remember a big scene in Spain after a couple of the quicker guys had outrun the police at 200+ & we all got detained in the hotel garage for a "chat" in the morning by the police. This copper came across & I thought here we go, his first words in excellent English were "Ive got an Octavia, can I have a look round the car" No questions about the Guys in the ??? just talked Skodas & let us leave.

So for £10k i can have your car? How much to enter and complete a cannonball, try and tempt the boss into paying for it. Put "Piper Cams and Exhausts" up the side of the car and call it advertising
