What size tyres are you looking at?

Id certainly want a decent brand name at least...cant say much for Federal.

i know theyre cheapy but then so were my Toyo T1s when they came out and were good! Got Toyo T1rs @ the moment and theyre wearing pretty fast so not that impressed....Sometimes wonder if the "brand" is pumping up the prices

I guess you pay for that with added grip. What size and price can you afford so we can recommend sample tyres?

Well its upto you, but if you drive anything remotely powerful, dont bother. For budget performance tyres Id choose Falken FK-452s

I guess it depends what style of driving you prefer, for the high speed stuff and the best grip something like Eagle F1s or Toyo T1-S are only around £73 inc post.

I have a pair on the front of my 1.8t. The dealer fitted them as part of the purchase deal. They look 'aggressive' enough to cope with rain whilst still having a good amount of rubber present.

I've been surprised at how good they are actually. They can spin up in current cold conditions. but so far I've not had any instances of slip or understeer when cornering. I've done about 4K with them so far and can't say they look particularly worn.

Indeed I'm so impressed I've just had the rears swapped, though I ended up with V-rated 535s, rather than the same 595s as the front. £50 each fitted, slightly better than the £190 - £206 that I was quoted for a pair of Pirelli, Michelin, Dunlop, Continental tyres. Grip hasn't really been a problem with these; ok mileage may be less (may not be) but the cost is spread out more.

I don't do track days so I'm not looking for ultimate grip. I do do quite a few miles annually so tyre life is a consideration. Perhaps, like you, I just want something reasonable at reasonable money....... and these tyres are fine.

On the Fabia, i've had about 10-12 pairs of tyres, 6 or 7 or which i hvae had the federals, they;re very good for the price with a very large rim protector. Be aware they seem very wide for the size quoted, a 205 is wider than the 215 yokohamas i had.

Evening,

not where I expected to make the first post ( wife has just put in an order for a vRS SE and I was browsing for stuff to look out for)

I've run Fed595's for 10k+ on my modded JDM Forester ( currently running 260/260 ) including a number of laps of the 'ring . They've been spot on apart from the road noise. I picked them after they were recommended by a number of subaru guys I know in Singapore and replaced a set of T1-S's.

Highly underrated , especially in wet conditions. Slightly squirmy when very new in the dry due to the depth of the blocks.

HTH

Steve

the lads on type-r scotland rate em pretty highly as a cheaper alternative too. Most of them i would imagine would be pretty tough on fronts...

Here is a good website to compare tyres. You can choose from budget to top brand and compare performance in all conditions via a link on the page.

Tyres for PASSENGER CARs very cheap, bargains, have a look and save

Oh Cool - glad i've seen this thread as i was just looking at getting a pair of these - and wasnt sure with not having heard of them before.

Is £58 each not including fitting a fair price then? Thats on my tyres.
Speed rating W, in 225/40 sizing.

cheers
