Tonight I installed a CAI in my RS. Install took about 15 minutes and is really easy even if you haven't done it before. I will upload some pictures of the install for those who are interested. So, what do I think? Hmmm, I'm not sure. It does make an incredible sound difference. From about idle up to 2000rpm intake sound is like a growling dog. Throaty and mean After 2000rpms, when the turbo spools up it sounds like with the stock airbox. Only ten times louder! Same goes for the DV. It whooshes like crazy. In 1:st and 2:nd It's almost too loud. I can even hear the whoosh in 5:th at 100mph So, if you wan't your Octavia to sound like the Cosworth in the Getaway in Stockholm movie, This the mod to do. Performance wise I didn't notice any powergains, but then again I didn't really expect any./ Christian And here are the pictures: step one step two step three step nine... No, just kiddning! It's four(= al done) :drive1:

| very nice looking filter... if you want performance gains.. drill out the r.h. (as you look at it) lower bumper vent.. its actually solid and doesnt allow much air in.... the cold air pickup comes in from this side..

ffelan; I am going to drill out the right bumper vent when the warranty has expired. Until then I have to replace this filter with the stock airbox every time I have to visit my dealer. I am going to get a pipe between the bumper vent and the filter. The heat shield actually looks designed for that. Quinten; I suppose I could run down to my garage and record som noise with my digi-camera(15fps only) later on today. A little hungover right now = :scrambles I don't know if someone might be able to host it. Someone here maybe have some server space?FightingDiva; Thanks! It's a JR filter(might be made in Dallas )Går att köpa på BSR. / Christian Last edited by Chrille; 06-07-2003 at 11:53.

Can someone please explain a: what this mod does or b: how it works. Wouldn't mind the car making a bit more noise, but nothing to silly so would love to hear that sound file if someone is going to host it. Damo

This looks like it might be a possible first mod for my car, as long as I could revert to the old filter for services so that I don't have any warranty issues. Although my dealer was encouraging me to get it chipped as he has chipped all of his. But £175 for little extra performance does seem a bit steep, basically it's cash for noise, and I suppose I would really like a bit more tail pipe noise than DV. What should I do There was talk of someone getting the sound of this air filter recorded? Anyone mangaed it yet, might help to make up my mind. Damo

A swap between stock airbox and CAI takes about 20 minutes. Really easy! As I wrote erlier, as soon as my friend edited what we recorded this weekend I'll let Quinten know so he could host it. / Christian
