Millltek tailpipe alignment

Anyone had any prob with the tailpipe twisting? Having had mine fitted today the tailpipe/silencer tends to twist out of line and looks naff. Seems the clamp supplied isn't man enough to hold it straight. Does a U clamp do the trick or what?

Just to keep this one up to date, Milltek are sending me a new clamp in the post and have given some advice on how to stop it twisting. Good support and a quality product. Haven't had time to try out the performance effects yet.

Having run the car for a few weeks there seems to be something banging at the backend when the exhaust gets hot and I drive over any bumps. It must be to do with the back box and suspect it is the tail pipe hitting the rear valance but it's hard to tell. The clearances look OK when cold and I have packed out the rear-most hanger with washers to pull it in more but it still hits the body somewhere.
Any ideas you Milltek users?

Chris I had the same problem, what it could be is the centre section hitting the underside of the car. What I did to rectify this was to take my car to my local friendly Kwit Fit and they add ed some rubber mounting under where the exshaust crosses the centre of the car.

I also found that because of the way the rear box was designed it would move around a lot this would cause the rear box to hit the heat shield at the rear of the car producing an anonying rattle. This no longer happens with my new rear box by H&S.

Didn't you ask Miltek to offer advice on this if it a comon problem? At first I thought it was due to the clamps being too weak and the box twisting but now I have two stronger clamps supplied by Miltek. The rear box looks very tight at two points: 1/.at the heat shield half way to the back 2/. where the tail pipe exits at the valance on the near side of the car. Have put washers on both rear mounts but it doesn't stop the banging.
BTW - one of the the rear most mount bolts to the body self-tappers is stripped. Can it be replaced?

Now had Kwik-Fit put a rubber bung in between the centre cross mount and the pipe so it no longer hits the rear beam and they took the rear bung out of the hanger so it now sits lower and (I hope) doesn't hit. But it now makes much more resonating sound through the body as a result of the exhaust sitting on rubber. Did you get this on yours?

Got my exhaust mounting prob sorted. It needed moving forward so that the overaxle pipe is now clear of the beam per AmD's advice. So took the rubber bung out. Nice and quiet again. Suggest you do the same.

Thanks Chris for the heads up I'll take a look....

You will need to get it on a 4 poster and slacken off the forward clamp the; one that mates with the CAT. Then give the front box a smack with a hide mallet- it moved quite a long way forward.
Kwik Fit are monkeys - I would not use them again.
