| It could be lack of compression when it gets hot. Does it burn a lot of oil?

| First things first. Is it turning over normally or not? If it is, is it trying to start and just not catching, or not even trying to start? |

| it is turning over yes but just does not catch sounds like the spark plugs are working hard but nothing is igniting.. starts first time when cold even snow and ice so strange that once its warm it does not like to start ! |

| It would be a first for me with an injection motor, but is sounds like fuel vapourisation! |

| It sounds like the fuel/air ratio is wrong when hot. I would be looking for a blocked air filter

| Hmmm if i have an induction kit fitted... could that be acting as the blocked air filter? maybe take it off and clean it or? do you think its messing with the air fuel ratio even when its not playing up and not starting? |

| If you suspect that, if you can get the induction kit off quick the next time it happens, you might be able to confirm or deny it. Or you could just clean the filter; That needs doing every couple of years anyway. |

| If it's spinning normally, and not catching, I'd normally think lack of fuel or sparks. |

| Craig0031 - I am having the exact same problem with my car and it is a 1.4 16v fabia. am somewhat alarmed now. frirst time went into petrol station came out 5 mins later wouldnt start. then went to visit relative came out again 5 mins later and wouldnt start. most recent dropped dog off at kennels on way to holiday 5 mins later would start...AGH! sounds like it is firing but wont actually progress to actually starting. I have noticed too that if you have it in gear and try to "drive as normal" it does edge along slightly as if something is getting through and there is a blockage. I have had it on a diagnositic and it reported no errors either...no idea what to do myself. I do have an alarm problem too though - it keep going off so I puilled the fuse. If you come across a solution I would be interested to know?! equally if i do i will reply! |
