Default Newport (south wales) Skoda

Hi Guys (and Girls)

Anyone down this way had their cambelt done recently?

My Octy Vrs is now on 71k, on a 52 plate.

Belt has never been changed, but think it's about time

Anyone know of a good place in this area to get it done, and rough cost etc

Help App.

Cheers
Steve

I know a few specialists in Cardiff but Newport is going to be main dealer TBH for a cam belt. There are a few independants I also know but none I would trust with my cam belt.

Capitol Skoda on leeway are good.

Hi Decron.

My Fabia will be needing a new cambelt, water pump etc as its 4 years old in June.

Do you have the contact details of any of these specialists, and a rough cost of this? Would be great,

Thank you

NG Motors

Heard nothing but good about them from people I know with Golfs, Leons, Boras Ibizas oh and a Corrado

Welsh VW

Not heard much but they look promising. I know someone who was "going to use them but haven't spoken to them since.

Thanks for the help guys.

I have asked them all to quote, skoda newport, ng, white dove cardiff and welsh VW.

Will let you know how the prices compare.

I asked all of them for work with the metal impeller water pump.

Ok, Had this reply back from White dove Skoda in Cardiff

"Hi steve the cost of the cambelt change is £331.35 including parts, labour and vat
The cost of a new water pump plus fitting and vat is £99.81
Total £431.16

I spoke to out technician and they are not aware of a metal impeller version so must be a performance part"

OK.

Had this one from Main skoda dealer in Newport (Capitol)

"Price for cam belt and water pump change is approx 370.00 including parts labour and vat. We will not be able to tell if the impellor is metal or plastic until we order the part and it arrives."

Regards
Steve

Do you like your car and value it dearly ????

Do you want it covered in scratchs ???

If so steer clear of White Dove.

And there price is a little high as well.

I called in Welsh VW a few weeks ago and they seemed pretty good, I was only asking them a question and they were very helpful considering I wasn't buying anything.

Might be worth a try although maybe a bit far from you.
