Default Safety Recall

Anyone else get a recall notice this morning ?

Apparently the rear wiper can become loose at speed and fall off - I've checked mine and its fine so I guess I must not be going fast enough !

I'm sorry Skoda, but losing the rear wiper at high speed is not quite such a safety issue as losing one of the cylinders at high speed!

Is it VAGs idea of an April Fool by any chance? If so, they gotcha.

Got the letter with RECALL INFORMATION in big letters on the envelope and thought "at last, a recall for the coil packs". Opened the letter and read about a rear wiper problem ......

Not very impressed ! Still if it's genuine I may be able to talk the dealer into doing the coil packs at the same time !

Must admit that, if this is an April Fool from Skoda, it does show some serious nerve given the coil issue and demands for a recall on them - could in their faces!

It's not an april fool from Jane - talking to her now and she thought I'd sent her the letter.

I think someone's pulling her leg though... :-D

Or did I want him to think that ?

Or is it a Briskoda originated hoax ? (Methinks that maybe others advertising this site with a lovely car sticker have been blessed as well)

Or should I just forget the whole thing now and go for a drive in the rain ?

I can still remember the time I gave you a erm... 'edited' copy of a bbc news webpage saying that skoda had recalled the octavias... you fell for that one (almost).

Nothing to do with me this time though...

I have spoken to my dealer about this.

He was one of the 4 or 5 reporting dealers in the country, before losing his franchise. He knew about this 6 months ago, but wasn't allowed to do anything. In fact he got told off for trying to order the parts at the time.

It is genuine!

No recall thru my letterbox this mornin, although if you look on the General forum , it appears some pre facelift cars are being recalled due to braking problems.

Anyone know if this applies to any specific production period?

I'll be less than impressed if i have to go back for a recall when i've only had the damn car 3 weeks lol.

Is it true that a dealer in Austria called 'Arnolds' are re-calling all the cars they have sold in the last year, apparently it's a Total Recall.

Totally agree Jon, having just experinced the first failure wellying accross a busy A road, well not actually going that well, poor chap behind was a bit confused I imagine.

I'll ask about the wipers when I vist Briskoda's super dealer.

Default Recall Letter !

I too have received a recall letter regarding the rear wiper arm / blade. Phoned my local dealer the same day ( 1st April ) and surprisingly they had no knowledge of the matter ! However they phoned me back a little while later to confirm the recall is genuine and that they will order the parts. I haven't heard anything further as yet.
Regarding the coil pack issue....they haven't received any instruction from Skoda as yet, and quoted over the phone " it only affects Audi ".
Well I guess that sums up the whole situation. I'll wait and see if a recall occurs for said coil packs.
