No performance air filter is gonna make a big difference to your car Green and K&N both require oiling so have potential to damage your car, but I'm a mechnical numpty and I've run both for 10's of thousands of miles without a single hitch K&N is better made and fits the air box housing better, Green is a nice colour

try dnx.
works fine and no oiling ever. just wash with mild soap and water, dry and put back.

Hi
Shall I add one too?
Pipercross? This is a foam filter and does not need oiling
I have one on mine and its been fine for 40k miles
K & N ones and Green do not use enough oil to damage the MAF , this is a myth , the oil comes from the breather hoses

All performance filters will need cleaning, bonus of foam ones like the Pipercross is that they can go even longer without needing cleaning (less cost and messing about for you).

Plus as Sarah's said, the Pipercross one for yours is a dry filter so doesn't need oiling so won't damage your car.

Please don't forget the dust !
If so, the damage will be real. It depends on the conditions you drive mostly.

Dust?
Mmm none in mine I have done 40k miles in a year and had the filter for most of it , the foam gets quite thin towards the rear of the filter , so to trap dust

In my country the dust is everywhere. Believe me, it depends on where one drives mostly. As for the air filters, I recommend PiperCross Viper / Venom or K&N.

Dust is environment related, so will be an issue with all filters.

In areas of high dirt load, cotton gauze filters will have significant pressure drop in around 2,000 miles and be fully clogged in 5,000 so will need frequent cleaning.

If you're in places like this, go with a foam filter (with multiple layers) like you've mentioned or even a paper filter with a foam pre-filter layer.

You can get pre-filters for cotton-gauze induction kits (K&N, AEM, Injen, etc) but they're only a thin flat material so only act as a short term barrier against severe conditions and will need cleaning even more often than the filter.

I understand perfectly and I agree with what you are saying, but I had a K&N in original box filter and an Admission Kit Venom from PiperCross and I had to clean them, even the tube after the filters, though there were too permissive... and the cost and the power gain do not cover the secondary problem with the cleaning...
In UK maybe air filters are feasable, good for you !

Yeah, we're lucky enough that we can run with very little over the throttle

If a filter isn't filtering the air, then it's pretty much worthless - it doesn't matter how many more BHP you get if the performance filter lets in so much dirt it kills your engine!

A *performance* air filter should really improve filtration first, then worry about increasing air flow.
