| Anyone know of a good place to get wheels sprayed. I had mine damaged before and I got a place in Maynooth to repair them, only problem is now the paint is coming off. Also would a set of Golf wheels fit the Octavia, a friend has a set he could lend me while mine are getting fixed.

What would need to be done to them to prep them for painting.

| Sand blasted or dipped to remove all paint, grease etc, but most reputable paint shops would do this anyway, no point putting good paint over bad as you've siad |

| The old paint needs to come off by sandblasting, then have the wheel redone using powder coating so you get a more even finish that should stay stuck. And wheels from the golf mk4 should go straight on, as do the wheels from the Audi TT and Seat Leon.

To be honest I'd say the guy that done them for me probably just sprayed over the whole lot, after filling in the scratches (he done it for 20 Euro a wheel). Is it just the layer of paint that he put on which has to come off or do they have to be brought right back to the bare metal and remove the factory powder coating. Then when the powder coating is put back on do they have to be laquered again. I'm probably going to have to get all 4 wheels done, as the paint will probably end up coming off on them all. To get an idea of the price, what does work like this cost in England ? Would it damage the wheel, that has had the paint come off to leave it for a while before getting it fixed. I assume the powder coating is still underneath.

| AFAIK powder coating is applied electricaly so should be there for life, Sand blasting though would most likely remove it, paint and filler (previous repairs maybe) from the wheels so the scrathes gouges etc would have to be repaired again... if you plan on getting them done then it wont do any harm to leave em as is for a while... there is also a crowd up north that do this (cant remember name at mo) I have seen uk prices for refurb at £40-£60 in the past so it aint cheap might be cheaper to get a new set when u account time and shipping, removal/fitting tyres etc)

![]() When I bought my car it had gold wheels, which the dealer kindly resprayed in silver for me (part of the purchase agreement). A year and a half later the wheels are starting to flake around the badges, and lo and behold what shines underbeath? Yes, gold paint. I've now taken them to a proper shop (thanks fab16v!) where they are completely redone. | |
