| I need new tyres. Badly. Problem is, I don't know who to trust with my lovely wheels. I've heard the usual Kwik Fit horror stories, so where do I find a trustworthy tyre retailer in-or-around Rochdale/Oldham?

| Well, if you buy from "mytyres.net", usually a good bit cheaper than the national chains. In rochdale itself, there's only three places I'd consider taking mine: Tophams - but i've not no idea of prices or even if they do fit tyres not bougt there. Mitchells - same applies as above Rochdale Tyres - probably the last place you'd think. It's down by Rochdale Dancewear, just off the bottom of Boundary Street. Run by a pakistani man. But that's where I ended up with mine. 4 tyres (from mytyres), fitted, valves, balanced, IIRC, under £25................and in under twenty minutes too............. Oh, but what about the standard of work? At this price it must be horrible.....? Oh Ye of Little Faith.......... The car runs in a straight line, the wheels haven't come off, the brakes still work. What more do you want? Just don't buy the tyres from there as it's crammed with part-worns and carries a sign promoting a tyre brand that was, IIRC from much discussion, partially responsible for one of our members accepting high office at the IBMA........*cough* ![]() |

| mytyres delivered to me next day IIRC, and I went down ATS to get them fitted next day. ATS monkeys were kind to my 17s as we have a trade account with them and they don't want to jeopardise £1000+ worth of monthly trade with our firm. ![]()

| I got a set of tyres from Black Circles (http://www.blackcircles.com). They arranged fitting at my local Motorway/Hi Q depot. No problems, and the fitters there seemed to have more of a clue than the average Thick Fit monkey.

| I used Blackcircles the last two times for tyres and found them to be very good. They supply the tyres to local fitters who fit them on behalf of Blackcircles |

In the end, I got 225/45 R17 Toyo Proxes T1-S from WheelBase in Chadderton. Haven't spotted any problems yet (although I'll need another 90-odd miles before I start pushing the limits again). £400 for four tyres, all fitted and balanced.
