| Has anyone ever come across the following problem? The auto system on the windows failed and the mirrors for no reason moved themselves down and then stopped working from the switch. Got back in the car and the mirrors came down again and kept clicking on the lowermost position for 2 minutes. I lowered the drivers window to manually push the mirror back to a usable position, but the window wouldn't go back up! If I held the mirror switch up for a couple of seconds and then pulled the window switch up, it went up a couple of inches then stopped. Had to repeat the process till the window was up fully. Too scared to try the passenger window. So now I have no electric windows or mirrors. Some serious electrical fault going on there. Guessing there must be a short somewhere, but don't know where to start. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!! ![]()

| Assuming the fault's occured both at the same time -- sounds like a control unit fault -- maybe just a coincidence -- you could try spraying the lip in the window seal with WD40 or similar and see if that sorts the window fault -- the mirrors may be just the switch -- failing that control unit failure most likely -- is it both mirrors that drop -- or just one side -- if only one side flick the switch to the other and see if it still does it

| Graeme, i've had a problem with the window switch swapping sides (left switch operates right) and refusing to work also. Mirrors packed up too. Cured by switching off engine, locking car and opening again (ie something was reset somewhere) Its done it a couple of times but not recently and i think other Fabia owners have reported the same. ![]()

| Matt. I had the windows swap sides before. As you said, switch off engine, lock and unlock car, restart and all was well. This time it doesn't want to know! Going to see if pulling out the mirror fuse does anything. If not, hoprfully i'll only have to put up with it for a couple of months! ![]()

| Matt - I had the switching window switch thing - but only during that period when my turbo was going off intermittently. Once the new turbo was fitted everything has been absolutely fine. I sympathise wiht you, Graeme. Losing control of electric windows would be a nightmare for me as they're used so much. The "switch car off, restart all being well" thing was also the case with me & the dodgy turbo, but it would just cut all boost again after about 30 seconds if I was lucky! I'm pleased to say I've had no gremlins since the turbo was replaced at 30K miles, 11000 miles ago! [fingers crossed smiley]

| problem with mirrors/windows will most probably be the convience (c/locking) control unit as for the windows and mirrors swapping over i have reproduced the fault by locking vehicle with remote whilst hatch is open most probably a software glitch.

| Cool. Cheers for the replies. Will probably put up with it now. Just driven a Fab vRS and WOW!! Dealer is trying to get hold of a Yellow or black one with Xenon lights for me. With a bit of luck they can get me one for the end of the month or start of October! Can't believe the deal they gave me. Woohoo! ![]()

| Excellent Graeme! I somehow knew you'd go for a yellow one! Can you get the Xenon lights on the UK spec ones, as you cant get them on the Octy which is a shame. ![]()

| Oddly, I had a slightly different problem with my driver's door window yesterday. For some reason moving the button in the direction to make the window close made it open further. It then wouldn't close whichever way I moved the button. Getting out of the car, locking and unlocking it a few times and then closing the window with the key seemed to work. It's been OK since. |

| Have ahd a similar problem after the battery died. Turned off, locked (and held the key in the lock to re-set the window up stops), unlocked (and held the key to reset the window down stops), and all is now fine! Cheers!

| Will try the key in the door to reset and see what happens. Cheers guys. As said earlier. Not too fussed now. Just an inconvenience having to use the a/c and losing the fuel economy slightly! ![]()

| Asked about that. The answer was that if I can't get it all atandard, then supply the remaining origional parts and they will do it. So I will put the steelies and the filter housing back on and leave them the zaust and springs to do themselves! ![]()
