I'd forgotten all about this one.

Everyone still up for it? All being well I might be running on gas too.

Re: Santa Pod RWYB 13th May 2006

Well, I'm a little worried about my finances at the moment - or lack of them. Currently waiting for a 4 figure redundancy payment to hit my bank.... And I need a clear day at least to get the LPG installed....

I'm a "75% sure" I'm going at the moment and if I do - a convoy would be cool.

Re: Santa Pod RWYB 13th May 2006

Right - Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I;m going to have to pull out of this - and its NOT due to driveshaft worries, combination of lacking money and I need a clear day/weekend to concentrate on the LPG install, and I'm setting 13th May as that day.

There shall be more RWYB days and I'll post up for something in the middle of summer at some later date.

Re: Santa Pod RWYB 13th May 2006

I've been a couple of times this year. Its a good laugh, the queues can be a bit tiresome if there any interuptions, but it gives you the chance to wander around and see what else is running. Everyone I've met have been very friendly, and most are up for a good chat. I'll be aiming to get there early this time. Don't forget your licence, and a pack up lunch seems to be the order of the day. Though the bacon and mushroom rolls from the chuck wagon are very good.....

I'll be travelling up from Edgware on the M1, and should be there by about 8:30am. Wherever you are coming from, just follow the directions off the Santa Pod website, they are very good, and once on the road there are plenty of signposts to point you towards the track.

But I can't think of £30 better spent, if you are like me you'll be hooked for ever after, it really is a lot of fun.

Re: Santa Pod RWYB 13th May 2006

The seats stay in mine, if I was paranoid about weight saving I wouldn't weigh well over 20 stone..........

You can get there whenever you like, only thing was last time i got there at 11am, a car blew up on the track and i didn't get my first run until after 1pm. I aim to get there early to get as many runs as i can in quickly. You get more runs at very beginning and end of the day. You pay the same price for one run as you do for 10, so £30/10 equals £3 per run.

Apart from that, don't sweat it, its real fun. Turn up when you like, drive all the way round the perimeter road, to the back of the circuit, and you'll see the queue. If I'm not in the queue, I'll be parked up near the restaurant and burger vans no doubt.

Hi Reffro,
Will you still go if it rains?
The forecast is that the weather will gradually turn bad.

Best wishes

Re: Santa Pod RWYB 13th May 2006

Short answer:- No.

Rain stops play. I've got other stuff to be doing if it does rain, like decorating my new flat.

Re: Santa Pod RWYB 13th May 2006

Reffro,
I am thinking the same way.
So we need to make a decision so we know what each other is doing.
How about a post on friday evening around 7pm so we can take note of the weather forecast?

Best wishes

John

Re: Santa Pod RWYB 13th May 2006

I'm keeping an eye on the forcast, but my decision will be made tomorrow morning, when I open the curtains to see what's happened over night. I've been looking forward to going back to the pod, so I may chance it if its not too threatening.

Yeah its a shame, but I'm still going. I've been done over by the forecast before, so I'll chance my arm tomorrow. If its no good I've got a back up plan for the day anyway.

Re: Santa Pod RWYB 13th May 2006

The weather was overcast all day, but no rain so I got all the running I wanted in. I was third in line for when we started running at 10:30 once the track was dried and prepped. My times were consistant, I did 5 runs before I left the track at 2:30pm to go to a friends to watch the FA Cup final.

My runs varied from a 16.77 slowest, down to my new personal best of 16.26, which I am very chuffed with. I want a remap now, having seen how a standard Ibiza Cupra diesel just drove past me in a straight line. I smoked him off the start, but he just drove past me to record 15.9 to my 16.4 on that particular run.

Overall a great days running, I was tempted to stay later but I had promised to go to my mates house, but its a shame nobody else made it because the weather obviously put a few people off. The queues were reasonable, and everyone there was having lots of fun. Some nice toys were there, a chap in a remapped RS4 doing gentle 13.5s runs, a journalist in a borrowed 760Li doing 14.1s runs. Plus I got to sit in the BMW and watch the GP qualifying on the rear seat TV, during the lunchtime break in track action.
