MotoGP Jerez

Wow! Lorenzo absolutely annialated the lap record in qualifying.
Kept smashing the time every lap he went out on - 0.6 sec difference between him & second on the grid.

Top marks to Edwards for saving himself from lowsiding at turn 1. Knee & elbow down to prop himself up!!

Looking forward to the race tomorrow.

I'm glad Rossi is upping his game now again, seems to be getting used to the Bridgestones now.
Must be embarrassing for some people though thinking that a SEVEN times World Champion had lost his Mojo
What happened to Stoner though, i know he didnt look up to it in Qualifying but everybody must have thought that he'd def be there in the race?? Suppose, its known for not being a Ducati Style track.
How good has Lorenzo been so far though?? What a Talent!!
Hopefully this Race is just the start of many more exciting races!!!

Re: MotoGP Jerez

Pedrosa absolutely flew away from the rest. I guess he had a point to make at his home track.

No love lost between him & Lorenzo! Even King Juan Carlos had to make them shake hands after the race!!

Rossi did what he could, but Pedrosa was on fire today.
Stoner didn't have a good weekend. You could tell he wasn't happy after the race - sat down in his pit garage just staring at the floor.
Well done James for doing so well in a sh!tty condition.

Hiya Gaff

I've been slow to write as I've been looking for the dummy that I spat yesterday afternoon .

Top ride from Pedrosa and hats of to Mr Rossi for being the first loser.

Glad to see that JT's first outing wasn't a one off, especially considering how unwell he was. Surely things will only get better for him?

What about Hayden & Edwards?? Crashing but not, how skilled are these guys??

Did anyone see the 250's, now that was really entertaining..................oh and we shouldn't forget Bradley Smith, top ride by the lad!!

Lastly, I'm sure normal service will be resumed come the next MotoGP.

Re: MotoGP Jerez

Yeah, 250's was good too.

Bautista & Simoncelli having a good old ding dong on the last few laps. Simoncelli was being a bit cocky as he knew he was quicker. He let Bautista threw on the last lap & then rode up his backside taking both of them off!!

Re: MotoGP Jerez

I would like to see Stoner qualify off the front row though, just to see if he can mix it up with them and work his way through the field. The 2 overtaking attempts that he made during the race, he made an absolute balls of the them Last year we were used to seeing him qualify pole then bugger of on the first lap!! Be interesting to see if he CAN make his way through the pack and fight??
Anyway, it must have hurt him coming in the 11th loser eh??

Ian, did you not see Stoner make his way though (some of) the pack on the first MotoGP of this season.

I presume that your "11th loser" comment was a pop at me? If you look at the Deja Vu thread from the first race, you'll realise just how much this was wasted on me.

This is now the third season that such similar debates/banter have run and IMO will be yet another one where Rossi is no longer 'champion' material.

Cheers
Lance

No Lance, the "11th Loser" wasnt a pop at you. I was just stating that he was the 11th loser??? I did see him make his way through the pack yes, most of his passes was on the straight. Of course, going by the RPM of the Ducati, most of it would be
Anyway, like MANY people, i was just wondering what all the hype was regarding Stoner last season??
I did ask previously but no reply?? I'm just curious??

Hi Ian

I'm not sure why all the hype, you really need to ask those that were giving it.

Perhaps though it was the way he made Rossi & co look pretty 2nd rate almost all season long, winning 10 races in the process (I think, but am not 100% it was 10).

I still believe that Rossi was so dominant for so long, due to the lack of serious opposition .........now riders of equal or superior talent have arrived on the scene, he's looking like one of the top riders, rather than 'the' top rider.

2nd in 2006 & 3rd in 2007 must say something about the slippery slope that Rossi is on. You could go on & on about tyres, electrics, BHP etc, etc like most Rossi-ites do, however that is all speculation and ifs & buts.....the results are what count.

Anyway, I respect and accept others views, however I don't always agree with them and think that a bit of debate and banter are good........we'll see how the season unfolds and I'll gladly sample a large slice of humble pie if Mr Rossi returns to the (alleged) form we have seen in the not too distant past.........unfortunately I doubt that most Rossi-ites would ever sample a slice of pie, as they very rarely admit to Rossi being outridden.

Cheers
Lance

I was asking you about all the hype coz you've went on about him all season to the extent that you too are a "stoner-ite"?? I just think that its amusing that every thread you start or get involved in, you make a snide comment regarding Rossi. I cant seem to find any of your posts mentioning Stoner before he started to win races in 2007. Maybe your 'that' kind of person who just supports who's winning at the time?? I bet your a Man utd Supporter right??
I belive that Rossi's dominance over his 7 World Titles is because of his NATURAL talent, not because of the lack of serious competition or superior Machinery I for one certainly wouldnt call Max Biaggi or Sete Gibernau slow.
Casey is HUGELY talented, but if he was that naturally talented, why havent we seen an ounce of til last season?? In 2006 he was on the Podium once, ONCE! He ended up in the kitty litter 6 times that season, then all of a sudden, come 2007 on the Ducati (some will say, best Traction system blah blah blah) he gets 10 wins!! Thats 1 more win than his Career Total wins. Surely he didnt just wake up 1 morning with this new found ability to oblitirate (spellng!!) the Moto GP field??
You seem very clued up on your Bike racing knowledge Lance, so i find it hard to believe that you think it is mostly down to HIM beating Rossi and the entire Moto GP field the way he did?? If you have to put a Rider that could maybe be on a par with Rossi, i'd put forward Lorenzo, 2x 250 World Champion, 2 Poles and Podiums in his first 2 Moto GP races in his Rookie Season!! Now, thats something to get excited about!!!
Oh, and i've admitted loads of times about Rossi being outridden, i too respect and accept others views, but at the same time, i'm going to back Rossi up to the hilt, after all, he is a 7 times World Champion and i truly believe that STILL, there is no one to match his outright ability to ride a Motorcycle.
PHEEEWW!!! Thats a long post!!!
See!!!! You get me that bloody annoyed with your wee quirky comments i end up writing a bloody Novel!!!
P.S I enjoy the banter too

Ian

And another bloody thing, Stoner got 1 poduim in 2006, then all of a sudden, 2007 he gets 14!!!! Thats not just down to Rider talent!!!
Right, rant over
