Renault F1 found guilty - no punishment

BBC SPORT | Motorsport | Formula One | Renault escape spy row punishment

Hmmm , so they had McLaren's technical information , were found guilty and were given no punishment.....

This doesn't do much to counter the percieved bias in favour of Ferrari does it.

Very similar situation to McLaren having Ferrari data , and they got hammered for it.

Once again it's the rest of them against the FIA Ferrari team.

Re: Renault F1 found guilty - no punishment

What a flipping surprise.

I honestly give up. Why not simply give The results of the next few years championships before the start of 2008. FERRARI.

Really, it's time Max and Berni lost their grip of F1. Between them they're lining their own pockets at everyone elses expense - including killing F1.

Re: Renault F1 found guilty - no punishment

As they point out on Autosport.com, McLaren weren't given any penalty either until evidence of ongoing use of the data was found (emails, txts and phone calls between drivers and rival engineers e.t.c.)

I think both Renault and McLaren have behaved much better in this case though and I hope everyone can draw a line underneath all the silliness and we can have a better 2008 season!

Re: Renault F1 found guilty - no punishment

Wasn't one of the main things that Renault admitted having the data from the start whereas McLaren denied it in the beginning?

F1 is a waste of time anyway, I much prefer A1GP these days.

Re: Renault F1 found guilty - no punishment

Yet again, the FIA end up sucking big fat ferarri c**k .
Cnuts, just proves that it was a deal done to give them the championship as if they'd ruled as harshly on renault for this then ferarri would've had to lose the title.
FIXED!!!!!

BTCC all the way.

You have to love their definition of non contact racing

Exactly. And I refrained from commenting on the McSlimeball case until I'd read the judgement. Why can't the McSlimeball fanboys do the same?

Re: Renault F1 found guilty - no punishment

I dont understand the judgement at all.

Not so long ago on a major sporting site, it was claimed renault 'clensed' their systems (more like shreaded the data they removed), THEN advised Mclaren.

If it was indeed clensed of mclaren data, then surely the evidence went with it?

Ken, it's not so much Mclaren fanbois. It's F1 fans who are totally gobsmacked at the inconsistency at punishments when rule violations occur.

Re: Renault F1 found guilty - no punishment

Agreed.

I don't support any particular team or driver.

I want to watch a championship where the outcome of the races and titles aren't known in advance , and the rules are applied fairly so the racing is the most important thing.

For years we had Ferrari and MS dominating the championship and while this wasn't exciting it did seem to be simply because they were the best combination of team and driver.

That era has now ended and we should have a situation where any one of half a dozen cars can win the championship , but some of them seem to have an extra handicap because of the politics of F1 and that's turning a lot of people away

Re: Renault F1 found guilty - no punishment

Is A1GP any good?

I used to watch touring cars when they raced Mondeo class cars back in the mid 90s
Used to be awesome with volvo even bringing in an estate, audi's quattro system and BMW 's RWD cars (although they got a 300kg penalty and Audi 90kg)
Then it all changed with half the manufacturers pulling out.
Whats it like now? and when does it come on?

Re: Renault F1 found guilty - no punishment

I personally like A1.

All identical cars so it's down to the driver/team to extract maximum performance from it.

The drivers have a limited number of 'power boosts' to help with overtaking ans then you have two races per event.

Races are always good for action too.

BTCC is pretty good at the moment - certainly far more enjoyable than F1.
There isn't the range of manufacturers involved as there was 10 years ago but plenty of action. I try and make it to a few races each year

It's shown on Sundays on ITV but it's obviously out of season now

Anyone else seeing a common factor between all these allegations (other than benefits to one specific team)?
