OK, to make it simple, if you drive up Clintz into Bigrigg, as you enter you will see a pseed activated 40 sign. If you climbed over the fence where that sign is you would be in my garden but then i would have to shoot you!

Another meet update.

Took a drive on the route earlier to check times etc. All went well.

Is there one that won't give you the hassle of pre ordering and pre paying? like the red lion on the cat'n'fiddle meet?!

I will happily post you a cheque for £5 but i can't see you being able to sort that from everyone in the next two weeks!

just say "ah, well, too late to sort all that we'll just go somewhere else..." and see what they say? they'd be loosing a hell of alot of money......

Good points there.

Was planning the Lane End Inn near Brampton.

It's the first time I've tried to book a party of this size. Only other alternative I would think of would a Brewers Farye. I would think we could all just barge in and take a seat. There's one near my house that has loads of tables. I'm sure we could all sit near each other in their conservatory section.

Anyone alse with a comment.

Will the pub not accomodate us if we just turn up? Or is it limited seating? As Dave says, tell them it is too short notice to collect deposits due to logistics of contacting people in time on a forum, to get cheques in.

Will check with them tomorrow. But I have another place I'll ring as well and see if they can take us.

This meeting lark can be a pain, but well worth it to meet you all.

Are you wanting to be out Carlisle way for a pub. it'll maybe mess your plans up for a run out, otherwise would it?
The Sportsmans Inn at Troutbeck on the A66 is good scran and would be able to accomodate everyone, i would have thought.

I have driven past the sportsman a hundred times, but never been in... big carpark, big pub... If the food's good?....

but then, anywhere that'll take us, and seat us together....

edit: worth the effort Ian.... If I didn't think so, I wouldn't try and make the camping trip work

Aye it's definately worth it. About to hit the phones in a minute and get something sorted. Don't want to be doing it last minute.

Same as Sharkey, driven past loads of times and always wondered what its like but always in too much of a hurry to stop.... lol! And even though there is a stunning backdrop from the car park for photos if its still light by then i'm still sticking to my original suggestion Toby carvery and this is why:

1) It has a big lit carpark out back so you could probably get all the cars in line for a pic.
2) We can all sit together in the pub part and have a chat while we wait to be seated in the restaurant.
3) We will all be sat with some of the group if not all for our meal.
4) When weve finished eating we can all sit together in the pub part again for a drink and chat.
5) When i'm eating my mouth is never empty long enough to talk anyway.... lol.

Did i mention i have shares in the Toby Carvery? LOL!

Both good views. If he Sportsman could take us we could do more driving, which is always good.

But can make a slightly longer route to the Toby Carvery

Lit car park is a bonus I'll admit.

Which would you prefer chaps.

After much thought today I've cancelled the Lane End Inn and will stick to the original plan of the Toby Carvery. We can always talk in the bar section before eating and afterwards, or even chat in my small house. There's not such a rush to get there so can even talk longer at the various stopping points.

I'm definately thinking though of using your swmbo's contact for the summer meet, if thats ok Sharkrider?

what do you mean? (don't understand... maybe I'm being thick.....)

we will be sorting the place for the camping meet by the end of the month, as we have enough numbers now, and I'm sure the list will grow.... we would like it in the rugby club in the centre of town, but we also have a backup place where we would get a field to ourselves that we can take our cars on......

Me and my brother are planning a meeting for the summer. I'm thinking it will be a good place to meet and have some nice food, and then set off for some driving. Will leave that for another thread.

I'm guessing that you dont need to know who wants food anymore if were going to the Toby but just incase Mike has had to cancel due to grandma commitments so i'll be coming alone
