Default 150bhp Elegance Vs. VRS MPG.

Whils trying to decide if it would be worth removing the remap from our Octavia to save some fuel, I contacted Skoda UK to ask if there was a difference between the economy for the Elagance and VRS.

I did wonder if the Elegance would be mapped for slightly better economy, sacrificing some performance but this is not the case.

As many here thought, there is virtually no difference between the 2 cars, with the Elegance 0.7 MPG beter off than the VRS at motorway cruising speeds - I suspect this is due to the front bumper/rear spoiler of the VRS.

Urban and extra-urban figures are the same.

I would have thought the estate would have been more aerodynamically efficient....not sure how much of a weight difference there is between estate and hatchback though.

Also wonder about gearing differences....RS' gearing is well suited to longer trips.

The gearbox on the FWD Elegance is the same as the VRS. The 4x4 is obviously different though and IIRC has a shorter final drive.
