| Well for a skoda Octavia vrs with only 34000 on the clock on an '03' plate ive had this done already!!! First i lost power on the motorway as i increased the acceleration she wouldnt go over 80mph and i looked to the engine temp and was just shy of being in the red!! Result Plastic inpellers on water pump had disintigrated, replaced water pump, replaced with metal impeller pump. Incurring the loss of the water pump i had to have the cam belt replaced although this had been changed at 27000. Related to the above trouble shooting the temp sensor was also replaced. Thirdly, a new sump cover. Only today i picked up 3 fault codes 17705,17524,17511. Proposed result tomorrow will be: A new hose from the turbo and the throttle body cleaned to sort out the 17705. A new lamba sensor to sort out the 17524,17511 codes. It has crossed my mind to get rid after this but ive only had it since november and i think the previous owner saw what was coming and had the same idea?? Should it stay or should it go .........But i want more pleasure out of the beast!!! |

| Keep it, sort the issues and remap it. Cars go wrong, not a lot you can do a the manufacturers keep making them more advanced. Ive had no issues with the remap.

| I empathise with you about the cam belt and water pump as mine is 4 years old this year and will be off for a cam belt and water pump when it will have just over 30k on it. Mine will have the metal pump put in and then it will be good for another 4 years. think on the bright side of what it could have cost if the head gasket had gone ![]() they are great cars and yours will probably be fine for years ![]() |

| id agree with sticking witht the motor, i had loads of probs on my mk4 golf, but atleast if you have the work done then you know what has been done etc, you might go and sell it and buy another one and have just as many problems or even more :-(

| Any idea if it did a lot of town work when the last guy had it? The water pump impellor issue is usually related to hours run with a hot engine cooking the impellor. The other faults look like "just one of those things" to me. |
