| hi boys and girls,i have owned my octavia vrs mk1 for just over 2 weeks now, when i first put the ignition on there is 6 beeps and was just wondering if this is normal as after the car is started there are no warning lights on and the car runs perfect. well when i say perfect the fan belt has started to slip as it is making a loud screeching noise for around 5 seconds when i start it,is this common? does anybody know if they are self adjusting or not and how expensive a new one is? thanks for taking the time to read this. matty |

| The six beeps are the seat belt warning. Clunk click before you start and they'll go away.

| 6 beeps = put your seatbelt on? Try starting the car once you have put your seatbelt on and see if that makes any difference. The alternator belt has a tensioner unit so it should sort itself out, but maybe your belt needs changing? |

| As already said, the aux drive has an automatic tensioner, but the tensioner has been known to fail. DAMHIKT!! |
